Purchase of the Year: Chanel WOC or Speedy Bandouliere 40?

Every year there is one large purchase I like to plan and make for myself. This year the obsession happens to be purses and in the last few months both of these have caught my eye.

Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere 40 – $1140

The Louis Vuitton speedy is actually a purse I never thought I would own. But recently the brand came out with a line called the “Bandouliere” line which includes a cross-body strap and I found myself in love. I originally saw the size 40 speedy on EmileeAnne and loved that the bag was large enough to double as a carry-on purse for long plane flights. As a frequent traveler I am always searching for purses that I can throw scarves, magazines, water bottles and such into for trips and this one, with its slouchy fit, seems perfect. Priced currently at around $1140 it is definitely an expensive item and an investment piece. New to the world of Louis Vuitton I want to do more research before pulling the trigger but I am absolutely smitten over this bag.

Chanel Wallet on Chain (WOC) – $1500

Next and highest on my list is the Chanel Wallet on Chain (WOC). To say I have researched this bag would be an understatement. I knew I wanted the WOC nearly two years ago when I walked into a Chanel boutique and the woman behind the counter was raving about the bag. Dubbed the Chanel “starter bag” it is lower in price point than their other purses and also acts as nearly 5 purses in one. The 25″ chain drop allows it to serve as a crossbody, shoulder bag, shorter flap shoulder bag, clutch and wristlet. As someone new to Chanel and the higher end purse market, this purse is a no brainer. I love the versatility, the fact that it comes in a durable caviar leather, and that I can throw it into my luggage for trips. Coming in at around $1500 it is much more expensive than many luxury purses double its size, but for Chanel is definitely a starter piece.

Narrowing in at around the same price point, both of these bags are investment pieces that will be sure to last a lifetime. Now to choose which one!

Maintaining a Healthy Body as a Pearshape + Recipes i’m Loving

With Frankenstorm pushing its way through North Carolina, all I can think about is hunkering down in my apartment and cooking some yummy comfort food. As i’ve mentioned in past recipe posts, I try and eat as health consciously as possible, with an eye on carbohydrates and unhealthy fats. While I love my pearshaped figure, being healthy and maintaining a level body weight for my frame is important to me.

One of my absolute favorite recipe blogs to visit when i’m in need of a little foodie inspiration is Gina’s Her blog is so relatable, she has a wonderfully sarcastic tone (that I especially appreciate), and she breaks everything down for us kitchen noobs.

These are just a few things i’m hoping to cook this week: Escarole Soup w/ Turkey Meatballs, Chicken Pot Pie Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp, and delicious Apple Spice Scones

Frankenstorm Style + Finally Found: Wide-Calf Hunter Boots

Dress: NY&C (old, similar), Scarf: Asos (old, similar), Belt: Nordstrom (similar), Boots: Hunter Huntress

Between Frankenstorm terrorizing North Carolina (thanks Mother Nature for that one), and our work schedules, the boyfriend and I are spending the week (and last weekend) apart. Which for us fashion bloggers means rain-centered outfits and indoor remote controlled photos. Allow me to apologize in advance for the awkward faces and strange locations. After an unfortunate incident that involved my camera crashing to the floor on a tripod, I haven’t quite braved taking self portraits outside just yet. In other news, i’m in love with Hunter boots and want to wear them every. single. day.

I have really, really wide calves. We are talking 17inch circumference here. So Hunter’s standard boots didn’t fit me, much like every other tall boot. After a bit of searching and digging, I found that Hunter does indeed make a boot for us wide-calved ladies: the Hunter Huntress! With an 18inch calf circumference and ever so slightly shorter shaft height, these boots are absolute perfection. While they don’t come in every crazy color that the standard ones do, I was perfectly happy with my Hunter green, admittedly inspired by the so-stylish mama of The Daybook.

P.S. Behold my new headshot below (jokes). I might not be able to take a decent outfit picture of myself but by gosh can I take a face shot.

Wearing the Animal Sweater Trend: Foxy Friend

Sweater: Frenchi “Fox Tole” Sweater via Nordstrom, Blouse: Vince Camuto (not online but loving this one), Jeans: Ann Taylor Curvy Slim, Shoes: Sperry Top Sider

Apparently animal sweaters are all the rage. They are popping up all over magazine pages and on bloggers with prints from dogs and cats to more intricate ones like this fox sweater I wore this past Sunday. I gotta tell ya, I didn’t think I would jump on the animal sweater trend but this particular one, with its stole-like fox print made it slightly less whimsical than others i’ve seen. Paired with a patterned blouse and my new favorite glitter shoes…clearly I wanted to make a statement.
