Seychelles Ankle Boot Reveal + Review

Gap sweater, BDG jeans, Seychelles boots via Gilt, Prada sunglasses

I’m just breaking pearshape “rules” all over the place these days. I have spoken about my need for comfortable, walkable boots in many posts (here and here) and finally broke down about a month ago and ordered these Seychelles boots from Gilt. They were on mega sale and I know Seychelles is notorious for comfort, so I figured I would give it a go. I originally anticipated only wearing these with tights and skirts to minimize the breaking up of my leg line, but broke the mold last week with black jeans (baby steps, people).

I surprised myself by actually loving the look and feeling so comfortable. I was proud of myself for wearing an item that i’ve long admired but been too afraid to delve into, and making it work for my body type. For now I think I will be sticking with tights and dresses/skirts or black jeans, but thought that the wide opening of the boot and a slouchy sweater helped to make this look flattering and chic.

Reasons I chose these boots in particular: A) they are insanely comfortable, B) they have a wider opening at the top, key for keeping proportion and not pegging the leg too much, C) they have some detailing, keeping them tough rather than dainty.

I’d love to hear your opinion, what do you think of ankle boots for pears? Have you tried the trend?

Fall Clothing Haul

Fall Haul

Fluted skirt,  Zebra mini, Striped peplum, Tweed peplum, Camo pullover, Cowl neck sweater

It has been quite a while since I did a shopping haul so when the big sales were on this last weekend, I took the opportunity to pick up a few fun things that I think will be great for Fall:

1. I can’t wait to wear this fluted skirt with long sweaters and cardigans for a faux drop-waist look.

2. A purchase completely unlike me, I ordered this zebra mini a few sizes up with the intention of getting it taken in to be worn with tights and boots.

3. This and this peplum are flattering silhouettes but classic cuts that always look great on pears.

4. Picked up this gorgeous sweater in camo (for such a great price) and the most stunning blue cowl neck for cold office days.

Have you been doing any Fall shopping? I’d love to see!

Beijing, China

These are the last of our China pictures, from our final destination: Beijing. We spent 3 full days in the city, and i’m not gonna lie when I say it was a difficult few days. We were already exhausted from almost 8 days of constant moving, and mainland China is not the easiest to navigate for noobie tourists. Nevertheless, seeing Tiananmen square, the Forbidden city, the Great Wall and tons of night markets and restaurants was amazing, and a true cultural experience for us.

Beautiful waving canal in the Forbidden City.

And this guy, waving around, a little loopy from the heat.

Sweaty with no makeup during our very steep hike up the Great Wall! Such an amazing view and highlight of the whole trip.

Last but not least, our final adventure. We rode push carts all the way down the Great Wall to the base! So so amazing and definitely something I would recommend if you visit.

Club Monaco Maxi in Macau

Club Monaco maxi (last season, but similar), Target belt (similar), bag from Italy

Quick outfit showing you what I wore while in Macau. We did a lot of walking, checking out casinos and weaving in and out of boutiques. I wanted to be comfy and casual so I relied heavily on this Club Monaco maxi dress. I even wore it on the plane on the way home!

Oh and side note: because it was so hot, under the dress I wore Bandelettes for the first time. If we are being honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan. I can do a full review/give my thoughts if you guys would like. Just leave me a note telling me if that’s a post you’d enjoy in the comments below!
