ASOS High Low Dress

ASOS dress, Coach heels (similar), Alexander McQueen handbag, Prada sunglasses

A new favorite dress, in basic black and under $100! This ASOS swing dress is becoming a fast favorite in my closet. With it’s high-low hemline providing extra coverage over the tush area, and the waist slimming middle line, I love it. One word of caution are the somewhat slim sleeves. I’m wearing a size 10 here and the arms could stand to be a tiny bit wider.

6 Shore Road Cover Up

6 Shore Road cover up worn as dress, Vintage slip & wedges, Prada sunglasses

Admittedly, I scooped up this cover up during a Cusp sale after spotting it on Julia during her Cabo trip. I’m headed to Belize with my best girlfriend in July and thought it would be the perfect piece for lounging on crystal-sand beaches. I planned to save it for a few months but couldn’t resist throwing it on over some nude slips for a quick stroll around the neighborhood on a particularly hot day. I absolutely love the bold print and the unique shape. Not typically one to buy oversized items, I think it’s flattering in a unique way.

The geometric print that rises in a deep V in the center of my body draws the eye inward, while the uneven hem keeps it youthful.

Fun fact about this lace slip: it was my grandmothers, and it’s Dior. She purchased it in the late 50’s and passed it down to be a few years ago. I wear it rarely to preserve it as best as possible, but absolutely love it’s delicate detail peaking out from this modern dress.

Absolutely can’t wait for Belize in July and am continuing the purchasing process. Anything you think I can’t do without?

Life, Now.

I owe you all an explanation. It has been nearly a solid month since I blogged consistently. Truthfully, you guys are my friends, my readers, the people I feel most comfortable speaking candidly to and sharing myself with, and yet in the last month of uncertainty I pulled away. Allow me to explain.

Have you ever felt like everything in your life was inconsistent? Like you had no comfort, no continuity, and it paralyzed you? That is precisely how i’ve been feeling for quite some time now. In the last 75 days my whole world has shifted. Albeit for the better, I have moved apartments (into a gorgeous one, I might add), gotten a new roommate (whom i’m obsessed with), changed jobs (that has been more fulfilling than I could ever imagine), and ended a 4 year relationship that spanned my most formative years. Nothing has felt safe or comforting. I wake up somewhere that still doesn’t feel like home, walk a neighborhood that doesn’t feel like mine, and come home from a new office each day. Blogging was always my comfort. It was where I was able to express myself, dance around in front of a camera and show my true colors. But in the last few months it has felt scary. It has reminded me of a time that feels like so long ago. It felt exhausting, draining, like too much.

Frankly, the thought of sitting down and sharing myself with you guys when I felt so unstable was not something I could stand. Until now. I finally feel like I am under control, and i’ve accepted that while everything in my life changed at exactly the same time, that isn’t a bad thing. I’m strong, I can handle the change, and am very fortunate that every one was only for the better.

So, in short, i’m back! I don’t know what schedule I will be keeping just yet but I hope you’ll stick around for the ride. Thank you for all of your kind words, your emails/tweets/comments have meant so much.

Alexander McQueen Zip Around Tote

Alexander McQueen Tote Bag

Well, i’ve added another member to the Purse Family. He’s a gorgeous McQueen zip around tote and i’m in love. I made this impulse purchase to celebrate quite a few things in life: a new apartment, new job, a birthday. Generally just to welcome this new chapter in my life. I’ve never done something like this for myself before, honestly. Purchased something spur of the moment. Every major purchase has been coldly calculated, saved for, and thought through. But to be completely transparent, it felt amazing to be able to do this for myself. And I couldn’t be happier.
