Do you ever feel like regardless of what jewelry or shoes you choose, your outfit is just plain? That was how I felt on this particular morning. I didn’t want to wear “real” clothes (as I call them), so a soft jersey maxi dress and draped knits was what was happening. No necklace could make me feel great so I went to work and hoped for the best. The beauty of working in an environment with such fashionable people is that there are always accessories floating around. Like these mirrored sunglasses, for example. Such a simple, cheap way to make an outfit. A statement, if you will.
Since getting back from Belize life has been insane. Between catching up on work, organizing my apartment and seeing friends I hadn’t seen while away, I haven’t had a moment. Outfits like this one have become my go-to during times like this. A loose tank, haphazardly tucked into high-rise jeans, and some sort of comfortable but stylish shoe. During J.Crew’s last sale I ordered about 10 of these jersey Prima tops in 3 sized too large, hoping for this exact oversized fit. I’d highly recommend keeping an eye on this item for their next sale. They’ve been a lifesaver.
And how cute are these sneakers!? An outfit maker if i’ve ever seen one.
Hi friends! As you read this i’m finishing up a whirlwind 6 day trip to Belize with my best girlfriend. We make a habit of taking one crazy trip together every year. Past trips have included raging in clubs in the Dominican Republic & exploring abandoned cafes in Jamaica (to name a few). This year we knew we wanted to have a great mix of beach and adventure and decided on Belize. A largely island country, Belize is known for it’s crystal blue waters and great people. One of the major attractions we wanted to be sure to see was the Blue Hole (pictured above). A natural phenomenon formed some 150,000 years ago, it is an advanced diving destination in the Caribbean Sea. Neither of us are divers so we settled for hopping in a 3-seat propeller plane to take a peak.
Gorgeous crystal blue waters were breathtaking during our 1.5 hour flight. An adventure to say the least!
We spent the majority of our time on two islands: Ambergris and Caulker and loved both. The former is the largest of the inhabited islands with beautiful resorts and luxurious restaurants. Caulker had a more chill, laid back vibe. Both, however, were so colorful and vibrant.
The girlfriend I traveled with happened to have come straight from a 4 week long yoga teacher training in Costa Rica, so I couldn’t help but snap a few images of her during a session on an abandoned dock. We’ve been doing quite a bit of yoga during our time here.
We’ve been on SO MANY adventures together. She is the truest definition of a best friend. I’m so, so lucky.
As you’re reading this i’m lounging on a beach in Belize with my best girlfriend from college. We’re sipping cocktails, catching up on each other’s lives and enjoying being still. Part of the fun of these kinds of vacations is the preparing. Shopping for the perfect evening outfits is half of the battle for me, so when I came across this River Island dress on ASOS I immediately had visions of wearing it with heels to dinner, and over a bathing suit on the beach.
I love the ease and freedom of a tank dress with the added interest of contrasting patterns. When paired with a leather jacket it instantly becomes work appropriate.
As you can see the back of the dress has a gorgeous criss cross pattern. This is something i’ll love in Belize but was hidden by my jacket for work.
I’ve linked up with a few of my favorite blogging ladies from Poshmark this week, all sharing how we style black and white outfits. Take a look below!
