J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny JeanΒ worn with Superga sneakers
I have spent quite a long time cultivating my jeans collection. As an item of clothing that I wear multiple times a week, I choose my fits carefully, and have scoured the market for the 5 jeans every pearshaped woman should own in building a flattering wardrobe.
First up is the high rise skinny. After trying on countless pairs of skinny and high rise options, this slightly pricier J Brand is my personal preference, however the multitasking skinny ankle coupled with the waist slimming top make it a necessity in any pearshape’s closet.
Paige bootcut jeans worn with Ferragamo low-heel pumps
This is by far my most worn jean. A classic bootcut shape, it works across all seasons and with almost any shoe type. The double button of this particular style helps in the tummy control area, and the dark wash makes it appropriate for work. I have even worn these to a more casual interview!
Ann Taylor Curvy Slim Colored Jean (here in this season’s Summer colors) worn with JCrew flats
My experimentation into colored denim actually happened on this blog, and this was my first pair. I have grown to love colored bottoms (in darker, flattering colors) and the cut of this pair has my heart. The back pocket placement doesn’t accentuate the rear too much and the tapered, though not skinny, leg opening makes it wearable for every day.
Banana Republic Flare Jean worn with Kelsi Dagger wedges
Flare jeans are my go-to night out on the town choice. I always feel sexy in these jeans and love that the wider bottom makes my thighs appear slimmer. Again a dark wash makes these perfect with heels or wedges for evening.
Ann Taylor Curvy Slim Black Jean (here in this season’s Summer colors) worn with Madewell flats
Lastly, the black jean. I have gone through so many pairs of black jeans over the years that I just can’t get enough. I love the instant pulled-together look and the versatility. This is a duplicate of the colored pair above (can you tell I love the AT curvy slims?!) and I have worn them to death. I am actually in the market to try a new pair and can’t wait to get my hands on these.
Loved the Banana republic Flare Jeans on you… it does such good for your proportions… and for any pear shape I suppose. I think the secret lies in how-much-flare as well the length… as yours is floor skimming.. which is great !

Yes, always floor skimming and for me it’s a slight flare, nothing too crazy, that works best
The Banana Republic flares are so great on you! I’ve actually never tried their pants or jeans, maybe it’s time to? π
Absolutely time!
Came to your blog to trawl through old posts to find where you buy your jeans, then I saw this post! Thank you so much π
Yay so glad we had perfect timing! π
Have you ever tried high waisted wide leg jeans? I am also pearshaped and just bought a pair from Heyday vintage (their a vintage reproduction brand) and they are my new favorite. They bring attention to my small waist and skim over my hips gracefully in one straight line down to the floor. If you are interested in trying a pair I can really recommend their 1940s swing pants. And I agree with the rest the Banana Republics look great on you!
