Pegged jeans for the hip-endowed

Forever 21 top (similar) + belt (similar), Banana Republic skinny jeans, Nordstrom Rack wedges (old but in love with these)

Call me crazy but I think this outfit makes me look taller and leaner. Something about the tight jeans with the wedges and top knot makes me look 6 feet tall in these pictures. “Pegging” my jeans, really just rolling up skinny jeans, was something I always thought was reserved for the ultra thin. The tapering at the bottom combined with the tight fit felt like it would be unflattering. But lo and behold, I tried and by following a few simple tips, this look can work for anyone.

1. Combine the tapered bottom with a top that has some definition but also some breeziness. This mint top defined my waist but still felt etherial and not as harsh as the pegged bottom. Other tops that could work here and here.

2. Be sure the top doesn’t hit lower than your upper hip. Picking a tunic length or longer top will just shorten your legs even more than this style already does. Stick with shorter tops, or even tuck in a top to keep the legs looking as long as possible.

3. Hike yourself up! In heels of course. Some form of heel or wedge always makes me feel taller and leaner. And when the wedge or heel is nude, double leg lengthening!

Review: Gap Curvy Skinny Jeans

IMG_0299-2

J.Crew shirt (similar), Anthropologie necklace, GAP jeans

Apologies for my absence, my loves! Last Sunday I celebrated my 24th birthday, and not shortly after I got incredibly sick. I’m still recovering hence today’s short post, but I hope to be back on my game next week.

I wanted to hop on and do a quick review of the first of a few jeans i’ve recently discovered and become obsessed with. These are Gap’s Curvy Skinny jeans and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the fit and quality. After selling quite a few pairs on Poshmark, I was in need of some good denim. I searched through designer brands and fast fashion, trying on everything in my path. It wasn’t until I revisited Gap that I found something that worked.

These jeans have a higher rise and a tapered waist, with extra give in the hip and thigh area. They narrow to a skinny leg but can still be worn unpegged as shown here. I have their classic dark wash and kept with my usual size, though they have stretched to just about 1/2 size up through a few wears.

I hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday!

Wedge Military Ankle Boots With Skinny Jeans

J.Crew blazer, Ann Taylor sequins top (old, similar), Banana Republic skinny jeans, Kelsi Dagger wedges (this year’s), Tory Burch sunglasses (here in tortoise), Anthropologie necklace (old, amazing option)

I wore this outfit to work last week and to be honest, I wasn’t the most comfortable in it. I have had these Kelsi Dagger booties for ages but had never worn them with skinny jeans tucked in. I always felt that they “pegged” my legs too much and emphasized the width of my thighs. I decided to experiment last week and am not 100% convinced I love it. Hypocritical I know, considering I just did a post on black ankle booties, but i’m working on it!

What I do love is this sequins tank. If you can believe it, I have almost given this tank away so many times but now have rediscovered it and love pairing it in unexpected ways.

I’d love to know what you think of these booties. Honest opinions! I trust your objective eye and would love to know if I looked ridiculous last week at work.

Flattering, Inexpensive White Jeans

Old Navy Sweetheart SkinnyOld Navy Sweetheart Bootcut, DKNY Soho Skinny

White jeans are something i’ve only briefly discussed on this blog, and generally in the vein of “these looks terrible!” But recently i’ve been itching for a pair of flattering crisp white jeans to wear with floral tops in Spring, comfy cashmere sweaters and flats running around the city, and nights by the fire on the beach.

The Old Navy sweetheart skinny has been said to be flattering on curvy girls and would look great with sandals or flats. The sweetheart bootcut also fits those with curves and the slightly flared leg is always a great idea to balance out hips. Finally, the DKNY skinny attracted me as a pegged jean option and the high waist also adds some interest and tummy control. All under $60 and with great reviews, I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong with any of them.

Let me know if you have found some white jeans you love and i’ll be sure to keep you posted on which one I choose!
