Sheer Top for Daytime

Forever 21 top (old)(similar), J Brand jeans, Sam Edelman sandals (here in another color), Prada sunglasses, Target belt, Gorjana necklace

I wore this outfit during a day spent with one of my favorite blog friends, Luci. We were walking around her adorable Oakland neighborhood snapping photos for each other. It was actually rather hot that day (darn suburban weather being so awesome), so I wanted to wear something light but still put together. This sheer-backed top from Forever 21 is literally ancient, and was probably around $17 when purchased. It has become one of my most worn items. See it here for the last way I styled it, almost a full year ago to the day.

When dressed down with high-waist jeans to camouflage some of the backlessness, and comfy sandals, sheer for daytime is such a winner.

The Panty That Won’t Cause Muffin Top

no-show thong 2

Let’s jump into an awkward conversation and just put it out there: thong underwear. There is nothing more outfit-ruining than a visible panty line or creased muffin top caused by too-tight or odd fitting undergarments. Not one that enjoys wearing shape wear or full-tush underwear daily, I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the perfect thong that won’t cause panty lines, and won’t push in my love handles causing muffin top. The result? The ability to wear dresses like this (see on me here) without shape wear, the holy grail underwear. And the best part? it’s 5/$36 at Victoria’s Secret PINK. Bam!

CHANEL Giveaway (CLOSED) ThePearShape Turns 1!

Today ThePearShape celebrates it’s 1 year anniversary. Words cannot describe how much I love this little blog of mine, and how much joy and purpose it has brought to my life. I started this blog as a way to de-stress from my everyday consulting job, and it has quickly turned into not only my hobby, but a social outlet and absolute love. But, perhaps the most important and rewarding part of having a blog (and one focused on body image and fit, namely), are the encouraging and heartfelt emails I get from my readers. Every time I open my inbox and have a note from a dear, sweet young lady, my heart fills with joy and I am so happy that I started ThePearShape a year ago.

As a thank you to my readers I wanted to buy something special, something i’ve been wanting for myself for years, and something incredibly luxurious to be given to one of you: a Chanel scarf.

I came across a version of this scarf a few years ago and immediately dreamed of the ways I would style it: tied over a bag as shown here, around the neck, in the hair. I wanted one in primary colors as I envisioned it acting as the statement piece to any outfit, jazzing up something more casual or bringing the focal point to its location in a dressier ensemble. It is the perfect accessory and something that I truly believe will be a staple in any Pearshape’s wardrobe.

I purchased this particular scarf from LXR&Co as I trust their authentication system and have purchased from them before. As such, this scarf is 100% authentic Chanel, to the best of my knowledge. Furthermore, this post is in no way sponsored by LXR&Co. I purchased it with my own money, and it was not gifted. I simply wanted to do something special for my amazing readers, on this incredibly special day. I would be honored if you would enter this giveaway and allow me to do just a little something as a token of my appreciation, for you. Giveaway rules/entry details can be found at the bottom of this post.

1. “Like” ThePearShape on Facebook, or “Follow” us on Twitter (double entry if both are done!)

2. Leave a Comment on this post telling me how you would style this scarf

This giveaway is open for one week. I will ship anywhere in the world, international readers are welcome to enter! A winner will be chosen at random on the 18th, and contacted for your shipping information.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of you for reading, commenting, sending me the most wonderful emails, and following ThePearShape on this journey. Here is to many more years to come!

Florals for Cold Weather

Madewell silk blouse (similar), H&M sweater (last seen here), Ann Taylor jeans (here in other colors), Kelsi Dagger wedges, Louis Vuitton speedy 30

Sometimes I have an insatiable desire to wear florals. Even if the weather in SF is freezing and it is completely impractical, I find myself looking for ways to mix it into my outfits. This floral blouse is a Springtime favorite and the multitude of colors within it make it perfect for layering under a number of different sweaters. This last Sunday during a brunch outing with my favorite guys, I layered this top under my favorite chunky knit sweater to incorporate florals without having them read as overpowering in the colder weather.

The looser weave of the knit allowed details of the blouse to shine through and the collar and cuff kept the florals peaking out just enough. Paired with my new favorite Kelsi Dagger cutout wedges (sooo in love), I was incredibly comfortable and warm for brunch. Oh, and as a side note, this lipstick is seriously the greatest thing ever. It keeps my pout looking full and is the smoothest, creamiest shade of pretty pink.

On another side note, tomorrow is a very special day for me. Stay tuned for a special post + a little something for you!
