Banana Republic Sloan Pant Review

Gap jacket, Target shirt, Sweet & Spark necklace, Tory Burch sunnies, Banana Republic “Sloan” pants, Ferragamo pumps

This last weekend my Banana Republic Sloan pants finally came in the mail, so I thought I would style them up and give them a quick review. If you remember in my post last week, I have been intrigued by these pants for a while, always seeing them on petite bloggers and thought I would test them for pears. In short, while they are amazing quality, I am not super thrilled with these pants for a few reasons.

As you can see from each of these photos, the material tends to cling. It is a stretch cotton and shows every imperfection on a curvy body. They have much more stretch than a typical jean and as such, I don’t feel as “pulled together” as I would wearing another more substantial pant.

I’m not a huge fan of the stretching across the knee area or the bunching in the crotch. Furthermore, the length on me comes just around my ankle (for reference, i’m wearing a size 12 regular) and hits at an awkward part, making me appear shorter than I am.

The length issue is more evident from the side. I would need to have the pants slimmed and hemmed to hit where I typically like them, 2-3 inches above my ankle. Finally, I had quite a bit of waist gap in a size 12 but couldn’t have gone smaller for fear of it rippling across my widest part. Typically pear issue!

In short, I loved the color of these pants and think they would be wonderful for an apple shape, or even petites, but for this curvy lady, i’m still on the hunt for the perfect work pant.

  • I’m bummed they didn’t work for you either. It’s interesting because I have yet to see them on a blogger where they look good. They aren’t made for your great curvy body, but then on someone like Jean, they don’t work either. Hmm 🙁

right?! I actually think they look fine on petites but on curvy girls, they are not my thing. My hunt for work pant seems never ending!

  • One of my fav colors! And I’m loving your shoes. Heading back to Cali today, can’t wait to get home! xo.

I have these in black and I must say, I wish they had front pockets or something. I do think they look better with heels because of the weird length (we are the same height). I also tend to wear my tops un-tucked or the half-tuck with these to cover the weird frontal issues you mentioned! I ordered a couple more colors with the 40% discount plus some reward dollars I had, so I am hoping they look ok!…I need to find a good tailor!

Interesting about front pockets. I really don’t know what would help these pants for me personally other than tapering the bottom and maybe taking in the top? Glad to hear you are making them work for you though!
