How To Wear Flare Jeans

IMG_1051

Let’s put flares on the list of things I never thought i’d own. They always felt clunky and like they were adding weight to my bottom half instead of detracting from it. But guys, i’m hooked. Few pants have made me felt slimmer and sexier than these.

When wearing a pant with a wide leg, I always like to keep the top simple but bold. No patterns or big volume, but a punchy color to draw the eye upward.

You may have noticed, but my solution to most things in life is: tuck, tuck, tuck.

Here’s my thinking: When wearing flared pants, you want your legs to look as long as possible. That’s sort of the point. So, tuck the shirt into the front of the pants to show the top of the pant line. This will make your legs look miles long and won’t cut them off mid-hip where your shirt ends.

What Moves Me – Musings on Body Positivity

IMG_0807

Revisiting this little blog of mine, coming back to this place that is so special to me has brought up so many emotions. For one, posing in front of a camera hasn’t come as easily as it once did. I’m out of practice and it feels just a tad bit uncomfortable. This is something i’m excited about, and i’m excited to learn to overcome again.

But second, it has renewed a feeling I had when I started this blog: body image discomfort is something to push through. Thick thighs are beautiful and should be celebrated. Patchy skin and pimples on faces are a part of life.

You may notice (or, hell, you may not) that I have a pimple on the side of my mouth in these photos. It comes from picking at my face and it’s not cute but you know what, pushing through the discomfort of not wanting to post photos because of it, moves me. It makes me feel empowered that i’ve hit publish regardless of that slight twinge of insecurity that I had, and pushed through.

Body positivity moves me. Helping others learn to love and accept their figures moves me. And far less seriously, skirts like this one with flow and movement help with the above – this one is good, ya’ll.

PIOL Dress – The Customized Little Black Dress

IMG_4682-2

PIOL custom dress c/o, Ann Taylor trench, Cole Haan heels, CHANEL handbag

Guys, i’ve jumped on the custom clothing bandwagon. After having such a great experience in Hong Kong customizing a blazer, I was thrilled to work with PIOL to craft my dream dress. I knew I wanted something basic as i’ve found it nearly impossible to find the perfect black dress that fits off the rack.

The process of taking my measurements and ordering the dress couldn’t have been easier. Using a simple tape measure I took my bust, hip and waist measurements, and inputted my standard clothing and bra sizes for even more accuracy. Then it was on to selecting the style and fabric, and within a few short weeks I had my dress!

I love how the dress turned out. When I say it fits my like a glove, i’m not kidding. Down to the last inch, this dress was made for me. It is a bit longer than I had anticipated but I think the length will be perfect for more formal evenings out.

I’m absolutely in love with the silk black material and know I will get a ton of use out of this new wardrobe staple.

KUT From The Kloth Diana Skinny

IMG_9107-2

Anthropologie sweater, KUT From The Kloth jeans c/o, Seychelles boots (similar for under $100), Necklace from Hunters Alley

KUT sent these jeans to me a few weeks back and honestly, I was a bit hesitant. I heard through the grapevine that they claim to be able to fit anyone’s body, and I was certainly going to put that to the test. I’ve worn these jeans a handful of times and can honestly give a thorough review now that I know how they hold up.

IMG_9111-2

In short, these jeans are so. comfortable. They are super stretchy and hug in all of the right places. They are not quite a full skinny but have a bit of room below the knee, which I appreciate for a scrunched look. One note regarding size: I am wearing a 12 in these pictures but could definitely get away with a 10, and will be ordering a size down in the future.

Just a quickie review of my first pair of KUT jeans. I can’t wait to test out more styles from the brand and review them! Please let me know in the comments below or via email what styles you would like me to try, if any. Thanks for reading!
