Trying Something New

Processed with VSCO with b1 preset
A few nights ago I felt the urge to try something new and change up my look a bit. So, I impulsively ordered this curling wand on Amazon, the next day it was in my hands, and that night I did this to my hair. I love it. It’s so easy to style, so fun and different.

Navy Blue Sweater + Twisted Bun

Blue and LeopardMadewell top (old, more options below), BDG high rise skinny jeans, Navy Blue Tieks, Kenneth Cole leopard bag (my full review here)

As you’re reading this, Cesar and I are in China! We have been wanting to visit Asia for so many years and could not be more excited about having the chance. Temps here are well into the 90’s with crazy humidity, so this outfit couldn’t be further from what i’m wearing at the moment.

Twisted Bun

I’ve had this navy sweater for so long, and it has been such a favorite. Wool mixed with a bit of silk and a unique design make it so easy to pair with everything, I often wonder why I don’t pull it out more. I wore it a few weeks ago during a day out with Luci for lunch and photos, and loved it with my second pair of navy Tieks. I’m seriously obsessed and my feet are so spoiled by these shoes!

Low Bun

On another note, i’ve been trying to heat style my hair less and love this pouf meets twisted chignon look I tried in these photos. Get ready to see a ton of this hair style from our China photos when we get back!

As my navy sweater is ancient, here are a few others i’m eying to go with my new shoes:

Transition an Outfit from Day to Night

Forever 21 top (similar) and belt, Nordstrom skirt (similar and love it), Sam Edelman heels, Ann Taylor bracelet

Sorry for the grainy pictures ladies, these photos were taken later in the evening right before a night out! If this top and jewelry combo looks familiar it’s because it was in yesterday’s daytime peplum post. After a full day of walking around, I needed to quickly transition my outfit for night. I swapped my jeans for a mini skirt, flats for heels, tied my hair up into a low bun and put on some bright lipstick.

This is my first time wearing a garment over the waistband of this skirt (last styled here) and i’m undecided about how I feel. A few ladies complimented my look on the street but I feel as though it makes me appear a bit pouffy. Thoughts? Have you tried this look?

Also, a video hair tutorial for this look coming soon!

Great Spring Find: J.Crew Factory Shell

Welcome to my parents’ backyard! This weekend I spent the majority of it in San Diego with boyfriend for a family wedding. It was a ton of family time, boyfriend/brother bonding (evidence here), and Spring weather. We had an opportunity to do a bit of shopping at our local outlet mall and I picked up this gorgeous coral shell at the J.Crew Factory outlet store. It is the most stunning color and was 50% off the original price of $59 making it a total steal.

I snagged it and love how it fits over the hips. It would be so flattering on a woman of any shape or size but I am particularly pleased with how it fits across the chest.

Tucked, untucked, jeans or shorts, it’s a total winner!

And, behold my newest hairstyle! It’s half french braid half up-do. Comment below letting me know if you would like to see a video hair tutorial (see my last tutorial for wavy hair with minimal heating HERE).
