A Magical Thanksgiving in the Big Apple

Macy’s coat (similar in beautiful colors), Target scarf (similar) and shirt, Banana Republic jeans, Tory Burch sunglasses

This Thanksgiving my boyfriend and I decided to get away. We both live across the country from our families and because of work schedules and flight costs, weren’t able to make it home for the weekend. Instead of staying home alone in our cozy apartment in Charlotte, we made a spontaneous decision to fly to New York to celebrate with the crowds. We had an absolutely amazing time walking the entire city, eating at some amazing restaurants, watching the parade and shopping black Friday in SoHo.

My brother and his fiancé were so gracious to let us stay at their stunning Chelsea apartment for the weekend. One of the best features of the building is a rooftop 360 degree view of Manhattan that could take your breath away.

One of my favorite things to do every time I visit New York is stroll through Central Park. On this particular day the sun was shining, the leaves were beautiful Fall colors and people were out playing through the trees. It was magical to walk hand in hand with my love and enjoy that Thanksgiving day together.

And of course, an obligatory stop by the Thanksgiving day parade complete with Pokemon and Kungfoo Panda characters to enjoy.

Our last stop was the Brooklyn Flea Market. I have been wanting to visit this must-see attraction for years and never found the time to venture into that part of the city early enough to enjoy it. At this time of year the market is held indoors at what used to be a stunning bank. The columns inside and the low yellow glow of the lights and candles made it so warm and comfortable to walk and browse. I ended up picking up a beautiful gold necklace that I can’t wait to debut in a post soon.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours couldn’t have been more perfect.

Casual Winter Uniform w/ Leopard and Plaid + My Thanksgiving Plans

J.Crew sweater (similar), Banana Republic vest, Target belt (similar), J.Crew leggings, Sketchers boots (similar), Target bag (doubles as a cross body!) (similar)

This Thanksgiving will be different than all of the others. My boyfriend and I live across the country from our families (mine in California, his in Nevada), and so instead of spending the holiday flying or in our little apartment in Charlotte, we will be taking a mini trip to New York! Instead of turkey and stuffing i’m looking forward to enjoying the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, shopping in SoHo on Black Friday (i’m searching for a new coat), and eating at some of my favorite spots.

My Winter wardrobe as of late has been leggings and boots with comfy sweaters to battle the cold. For a weekend traipsing around Manhattan I can’t think of any better uniform to continue.

Have a wonderful (and safe) Thanksgiving!

A Sunday Adventure with Boyfriend, wearing Shades of Pink

BB Dakota top, Ann Taylor Curvy Slim jeans (last worn here), Tory Burch sunglasses

I wore this outfit last Sunday when my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to have an “adventure day.” We had lunch together, went golfing (these photos are taken outside of the driving range), and jumped on trampolines at Sky High. Generally our weekend routine is pretty standard so mixing it up, just the two of us, was magical.

I wanted to be stylish yet comfortable for our day around the city and so I pulled out my trusty colored jeans from Ann Taylor. To say I am in love with these jeans is an understatement. Worn previously with leopard and black, I love that they just as easily work with light pink and classic accessories.

What I Wore to a Renaissance Festival

This past weekend my boyfriend managed to convince me to go to a Renaissance Festival. He had been dying to go for years and we were finally in the city when it was happening so I agreed to tag along. While I am still not a die-hard Renaissance fan, the gorgeous costumes, delicious food (can we say caramel apples?) and artwork were really pretty cool. I wanted to keep it casual while still being warm and comfortable and so I opted for my all-weather ensemble: Hunter boots and jeans.

Hunter “Huntress” boots, Banana Republic Jeans, Nordstrom Jacket (incredibly old, similar), Nordstrom Shirt, Repurposed necklaces

These boots really have proven to be lifesavers to me, and I am disappointed I didn’t pull the trigger sooner. They are the perfect width for my super-wide calves and I love how they look with both jeans and dresses. This jacket from Nordstrom is legitimately 5 years old (we are talking high school days) and it is still one of my favorites. I love the military-esque style and how it can be worn with anything.

There was a really hilarious strength competition that the men at the fair were really getting into. They had to hit the target 10 times in a row and make it to the top to be considered the “king of the fair.” I was amused to say the least.
