Cascading Peplum + Fun Photos

Old peplum from Gilt (similar), Banana Republic jeans, Sam Edelman heels

One of the amazing things about making friends with fellow bloggers, is that they don’t look at you like a crazy person when you have the bright idea to snap pictures in a kitchen, especially when you’re wearing a cute outfit. As a matter of fact, they take it super seriously, angle the camera just right to get proper lighting, and give you hundreds of picture options to choose from.

Metallic Heels

Red Lips

Just a little red lip, bold earrings, and a heinously wrinkled peplum that is almost half as old as I am for some girl time with my blogging best.

Oh, and homemade Oreos. Recipe coming soon!

Hard Tail Legging Review & Weekend Morning Routine

Hard Tail Capri Review

Harvard sweatshirt, Hard Tail Keyhole Capri leggings c/o, Prada sunglasses, Michael Kors sneakers

Most of the time you all see me looking put together, and well, clothed properly. But the reality of it is that on weekend mornings I throw on a variation of this exact outfit, walk down my street to the local coffee shop and grab the same Strawberry Banana Chia smoothie you see in my hand and come back home to prepare the rest of breakfast. My hair is up in a bun, I throw on my most comfy pants and sweatshirt, and sport big sunnies to avoid having to put on makeup. Since discovering Hard Tail a few years ago this routine has become decidedly more put together with the addition of their leggings rather than baggy sweatpants (truth).

Hard Tail Legging Review

These Hard Tail capri’s are my 4th pair from the line and I looooove them. I buy Hard Tail for two reasons: 1) they suck you in everywhere 2) they are high waisted and provide tummy control, and these aren’t any different. The grey design at the bottom adds some interest and the capri length versus my usual full-pant makes it easier to pair with shoes.

Hard Tail pant review

I always size down to a Medium in Hard Tail, just for added control but if you want to avoid the slight indentation of the grey lines in these particular pants, i’d recommend going with your regular size.

I’m curious, what is your weekend morning routine? Do you leave the house at all? And, below please find the other Hard Tail pants i’ve owned and sincerely loved.

Styling an Outfit Around a Bag: Valentino Rockstud Patent Tote

valentino rockstud pairing

Valentino “Punkouture” Rockstud Patent Medium Tote. Styled with Kate Spade pumps, Alexander McQueen scarf, DVF dress, YSL Lipstick

This week i’m at a work conference in Seattle. Naturally, I have skipped lunch every day to browse around the Nordstrom Flagship store and “ooo” and “aahhh” at all of the beautiful goodies. This particular Nordstrom store has styles that the other’s don’t carry, and of course, I’ve already fallen in love with a particular item: this Valentino Rockstud patent medium tote. I mean, tell me that isn’t the most beautiful of beautiful handbags you have ever seen!?

I tried it on in the store for probably a good 45 minutes before tearfully parting ways with it, but it is safe to say this will be my next handbag purchase. It has covered patent studs, is totally durable, comes with a drop down strap that is the perfect length for me, and isn’t too large (the bag is around 11″ wide). And, i’m already styling it in my head.

Styled By Boyfriend: Summer Outfit From a Man’s Perspective

Ann Taylor top (in stores or great, flattering white version here), Paige jeans, Chanel vintage flats, Prada sunglasses

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you know that this last weekend Cesar and I went on an adventure. For the first time in the history of our relationship (or my life, really) I allowed him to walk me into any store in the mall, pick out any outfit he thought would look great on me, and I would buy it and wear it here, on the blog. The goal behind this wasn’t to give up my “right” to choose what I want to wear, but more of an experiment to see his sense of style and flattery from a man’s perspective. Plus, after last week’s controversial post, I thought I owed him one.

To say I was surprised by his choices would be an understatement. Being the frugal guy that he is, he only selected one top and opted for his favorite “tush hugging” jeans and classic flats that I already owned. We started by wandering into Nordstrom where he instantly felt overwhelmed by the multiple “women’s” departments, and quickly made our way to Ann Taylor (again, I was surprised by the conservative choice of store). Cesar operates in a “it’ll jump out at me if I like it” methodology, and typically gravitated towards things on manequins as I think they gave him more of a visual.

He settled on this bright pink top, after having me try on many a not so flattering dresses (to which I kept my mouth entirely shut). The top is in a cowl neck shape (I found out these were his favorite), and hugs in all the right places, as he said. Entirely not something I would pick out for the sheer fact that it clings to some of the curves i’d rather hide, I appreciated his adorable gesture and will wear it with pride.

A dainty necklace and a natural face of makeup, per his request, finished off this basic, everyday look. He did admit to me that one of the reasons he loved this outfit was that it was simpler than most of the items I own, and allowed him to really “see me.” Just call me putty on the floor.

Have you ever done a similar experiment? Do share!
