Styling an Outfit Around a Bag: Valentino Rockstud Patent Tote

valentino rockstud pairing

Valentino “Punkouture” Rockstud Patent Medium Tote. Styled with Kate Spade pumps, Alexander McQueen scarf, DVF dress, YSL Lipstick

This week i’m at a work conference in Seattle. Naturally, I have skipped lunch every day to browse around the Nordstrom Flagship store and “ooo” and “aahhh” at all of the beautiful goodies. This particular Nordstrom store has styles that the other’s don’t carry, and of course, I’ve already fallen in love with a particular item: this Valentino Rockstud patent medium tote. I mean, tell me that isn’t the most beautiful of beautiful handbags you have ever seen!?

I tried it on in the store for probably a good 45 minutes before tearfully parting ways with it, but it is safe to say this will be my next handbag purchase. It has covered patent studs, is totally durable, comes with a drop down strap that is the perfect length for me, and isn’t too large (the bag is around 11″ wide). And, i’m already styling it in my head.

Dressing to Combat Extreme Heat

Forever 21 dress (so old, similar here), J.Crew hat, Sam Edelman sandals, Prada sunglasses

This last weekend Cesar and I took a drive out to Sacramento to visit the state fair. I am entirely obsessed with fair food but was a little apprehensive about the weather. It was forecasted to be over 100F and I hadn’t dealt with heat like that since a years past trip to Israel in the Summer. I was sure to prepare, lathering on sunscreen, wearing my lightest dress around my thighs (no one likes chub rub), and donning a hat.

This ended up being the perfect outfit and I managed not to get burned! The hat was a godsend and the sandals held up pretty well.

Though a million years old, and originally costing somewhere around $15, this dress has gotten so many wears over the years.

Banana Republic Sheath Dress for Summer + Review

Banana Republic dress (in stores only, but very similar here online), Anthropologie pin, Sam Edelman sandals, Target clutch (old, amazing option here)

I wore this new Banana Republic dress in the sweltering heat while in DC visiting my best college girlfriends. We had an amazing weekend filled with brunches, late night talks, girly drinks and lots of laughs. I don’t think i’ve had that amazing of a weekend in a while and i’m so thankful I got to see them. In other news, this dress is wonderful. It is the first of it’s sheath kind in my closet and though it is very basic, when dressed up with a fun pin or a glam hat, I think it is going to be a great staple for Summer.

This particular dress is only sold in stores, unfortunately, but I love the line down the back to give some added interest, and the slight high-low hemline for extra coverage. It is a thick ponte material and has a cap sleeve that was a smidge too tight on my arms, but was easily fixed with a slight tug on either side.

As with any sheath, the dress was slightly roomy in my torso area but hung nicely over my hips. I walked without feeling like it was riding up and felt covered and comfortable all day.

Have an amazing Monday and thank you for reading!

Mixing Animal Prints & Larger Than Life Hair

Equipment sweater, Target belt, Ann Taylor curvy slim jeans (here in traditional denim), Chanel vintage flats (obsessed with these), Etsy tassel keychain

Hello lion hair, Batman! My hair is getting seriously thick and curly. I’m secretly obsessed with it but boyfriend thinks it’s time for a trim. In other news, this is so the traditional SF evening outfit. Read: it’s freezing and i’m wearing cashmere in July.

Even though it’s freezing out at nights, I try and keep things a little interesting by mixing animal print patterns (always in the same color family) and wearing my favorite designer flats.

Oh, and how amazing is this tassel! I finally dressed up my keys (mainly so my boyfriend would stop mixing ours up) and ordered this keychain from Etsy.

Thanks so much for reading! And if anyone knows of any amazing hairdressers to tame this mane in the SF Bay Area, please comment below!
