Striped Skater Dress For Work

Gap dress (old, similar), Ferragamo “Vara” pumps, Vintage belt

You’ve seen this dress before, but I wanted to restyle it sans tights and for warmer weather as we head into Summer. Honestly, I couldn’t love this dress more. It has a dramatic shape and the stripes give it some added interest. Paired with my classic Ferragamo Vara’s (still one of my best investments to date), it is a cute outfit that works perfectly for the office or out to dinner.

Once again these amazing photos were shot by my talented friend Erica Garlieb. She is a fantastic new photographer in the Bay Area. Love. Obsessed.

Anthropologie Midday Dress

IMG_0503-2

Anthropologie Dress (exact same style, different colors HERE), Converse sneakers, Prada sunglasses

This last weekend I spent a few days in San Diego, at home, with my parents. The city as a whole takes on a more laid back vibe. Sneakers instead of wedges, casual waves and little to no makeup are the norm. I brought my new favorite dress with me from Anthropologie, and accessorized it with my most casual, simple pieces. A great pair of tennis shoes, flesh-toned sunglasses and a bit of lipstick were all I wore all day. To say it was a refreshing break from my usual full face of makeup and coldly calculated outfits would be an understatement.

While this dress in the polka dot print is sold out, I LOVE the style and find it so slimming. Other colors are still available on Anthropologie (on sale) and I would highly recommend scooping one up.

Joie Shift Dress

Joie Shift dress (bought via Nordstrom Rack. More similar options below), Andrew Marc leather jacket (this year’s), Pour la Victoire wedges, Prada sunglasses

A new Nordstrom Rack opened in Union Square a few weeks ago, and after work one day a colleague and I couldn’t help but go check it out. It’s still so new and all of the merchandise is in its proper place, with amazing finds from some really fantastic designers. I spotted this Joie shift dress on the rack and picked it up immediately. The red and daisy print reminds me of my mom in the 70′s so much. I figured immediately that it would be too short, shapeless, or not suitable for my curves but opted to try it on. Much to my delight and surprise, I was immediately obsessed with it.

I love that even though the dress is essentially shapeless, it is still fun and flirty. The pleats give it some added interest, and when paired with nude shoes, my legs actually look thinner and a mile long. I threw on this leather jacket to give some form to the dress, but love it just as much without it.

I have a few belts that would work well with this style, and might play around with a belted option, but for now I can’t wait to pair this with more nude shoes for Spring, and tights and boots as we finish off this cold weather.

As I found this dress at a Nordstrom Rack, here are a few more similar options for your viewing pleasure!

Layered in Piperlime Jacquard

IMG_9950-2

Andrew Marc leather jacket (this season’s), Forever 21 shirt, Piperlime dress (very similar and under $50), Steve Madden boots, Ray Ban sunglasses

Jennifer called this outfit very “piled on.” In other words, I threw everything on at the same time and it just sort of works. I’m all about layering, and I guess she is right, it just sort of works! This dress is a standout piece and is becoming a fast favorite. I’ve never layered anything on top of it and love that it’s made more casual with a plaid shirt and leather accents. In other news, i’ve literally never worn boots without tights before and i’m diggin’ the cowboy feel!
