Denim on Denim on Denim

Gap jacket (ancient, similar here), J.Crew chambray, Paige jeans, Ann Taylor flats, H&M necklace (old, similar), Prada sunglasses

Denim on denim… on denim! Crazy, I know. I had an urge a few weeks back to wear all of these pieces and decided to make a few tweaks in order to wear them together, in a flattering way. I opted for straight leg jeans (in lieu of skinny or flare) to keep proportions even on the botton and buttoned the two front buttons of the jacket for shape.

Apologies for wearing these sunglasses in literally every post. I’m so obsessed! They are so perfect worn with everything that I can’t seem to let them go.

For added interest with this outfit I rolled my sleeves and added a bold gold necklace to draw the eye upward. I opted for basic makeup but a bold lip to keep the attention up top.

In other news, i’m thinking of selling a few pieces from my wardrobe including these flats. Would anyone be interested in purchasing? I want to gauge what you all think before I post them on Pose or sell them here. Let me know in the comments below!

Brother’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner – A Nordstrom Maxi Dress Review

Nordstrom floral maxi dress (here in solid color)(here in plus size), Sam Edelman sandals, J.Crew belt, Alexis Bittar earrings, H&M necklace (old), YSL lipstick

As you’re reading this Cesar and I are in South Hampton, NY showering, primping, prepping and preparing for my brother’s wedding rehearsal dinner! Over the last year you have read about engagement parties and bridal shower style, all leading up to this weekend. For their rehearsal dinner (hosted at a gorgeous winery), I will be opting for this pleated floral maxi I found at Nordstrom a few months back. It fits me like a glove and with it’s fully lined interior, it will be perfectly comfortable for the evening.

Admittedly, I got all dolled up weeks ago when Lydia was in town to shoot this outfit. Knowing full well that this weekend would prove too busy to shoot the dress, I wanted to be sure you had all the details for your own wedding season. In short, I am in love with this dress. It feels incredibly etherial when worn and drapes beautifully. While I would have preferred a v-neck style, i’ve come to the realization that maxis are simply never adorned with my favorite neckline.

One thing I did want to note is that this dress does run slightly large. I’m wearing a size 8 here (typically a size 10 dress) and it zips wonderfully. The lining isn’t too snug over my hips and I will be wearing it this evening with zero alterations.

I might be changing up the accessories for tonight but this is an idea of what I will be pairing it with in the future. Nude/metallic accents for Summer and for this particular evening rehearsal dinner, I might be changing out the shoes for the ones seen here, adding black accent jewelry, and a belt like this.

Have a wonderful weekend and if you’re on Instagram be sure to follow along on the wedding adventures with me, and my brother’s very own wedding hashtag: #HHWedding!

Wearing a Jersey Maxi

J.Crew gingham top (here in solids), Gap maxi dress (similar), J.Crew belt, Sam Edelman sandals, Prada sunglasses, YSL lipstick

This is seriously one of my favorite new outfits. A comfy jersey maxi paired with longer length button up is cinched at the waist with a thick belt. I mean, could it be any more perfect for San Francisco?

I also love tying this maxi up in the corner. I think it creates more interest and dimension in the outfit and also breaks up the awkward ankle-length that this dress tends to hit me.

How To: Wear A Crop Top

Forever 21 crop top, J.Crew skirt (last styled here) + flats (here in pink) + bracelet (no longer available, but loving this one), Sweet & Spark bracelet

If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever wear a crop top I would have thought you were bat crazy. The thought of showing my stomach in public still terrifies me, quite frankly. Bathingsuits are another story. The beach, for me, is an “almost anything goes” environment, but the streets of San Francisco, no ma’m. Ever since I bought this adorable high waisted skirt, i’ve been wanting to play with different ways to pair it. The cheeky print and adorable flared length lent itself perfectly to a slight Parisian pairing, of a gingham crop top.

Not wanting to spend too much money on this trend, I stuck with Forever 21 for my first try. When choosing a crop top I intentionally shied away from clingy or spandex fabrics. I knew I would feel slightly uncomfortable so extra pulling and tightness didn’t sound appealing. I also looked for a top with a tie that hung low. This would, in my mind, provide some extra coverage in the center of the stomach. Delusional?  Maybe. But I loved this look and wore it all day through the city with no crazy stares or discomfort!

If you can see by this close up photo, the crop top really isn’t too cropped on my short-torso frame. It only really shows about an inch of skin given how high I have the skirt placed. Perhaps one day i’ll experiment with more skin.

Would you wear the crop top? Tell me how you would style it!
