Neon lace and a boyfriend “loved” top

LOFT top (similar), Banana Republic jeans, Kendra Scott necklace (similar stunner), Chanel WOC clutch, J.Crew flats

Last time I pegged these jeans like this I wore a peplum style top with heels. On this particular day I was so not into wearing wedges or heels and just really wanted something easy, but that also felt like Spring. It was a nearly 75F day in Charlotte and this lace top provided the exact compliment to the weather I needed. And, the best part about it, my boyfriend gave me a resounding “you look amazing” when I walked out of our closet that morning!

If I wasn’t going to wear heels I was going to at least not cut off my leg line even more and stick with gold metallic, unobtrusive flats.

Picture taking faux pas: string hanging out of undershirt! Gah, embarrassing.

And a smiley face for your Thursday.

P.S. if you follow me on Twitter you know that I have some suuuuper exciting news coming next week! Stay tuned!

Dressing for pictures: the fit & flare

H&M dress (very old) (similar), Sam Edelman heels, H&M necklace (another fun option)

With the amount that I have my picture taken for this blog, I think a lot about what styles allow me to look most photogenic. These thoughts not only apply to bloggers but to anyone attending a social event where they are sure to end up in front of a camera! One of my go-to styles aside from a tight-fitted dress, is a fit and flare. It nips in at the waist, flatters my body and allows for movement.

Apologies for the wrinkles on this dress, it was after a day of sitting! I chose this piece in particular because of the style but also the intricate details. The ruffling on the bodice, the subtle pleating at the waist and the flirty bottom all make for interesting picture details.

A fit and flare also allows for movement and sultry poses like this!

If you’re at all uncomfortable about the width of your hips, or the shape of your rear than a subtle fit and flare in a draped, non-clingy fabric is perfect. It grazes curves without hugging them, emphasizing all of your assets. Paired with a bright bauble to draw the eye upward, and nude heels for leg lengthening, this is the perfect picture outfit!

To add even more interest, throw on a trench or jacket for added coverage.

Do you love the fit and flare?

Spring obsession: Madewell floral blouse

Madewell blouse, LOFT jeans, J.Crew necklace, Sandals purchased in a boutique in Greece, LV Speedy 30 bag

I took a rare day off from blogging yesterday and to be honest it felt completely weird! I’m glad to be back and fresh this week with a fun new blouse I picked up at Madewell last weekend. My love for well-fitted silk blouses is well documented (here and here) and i’m happy to have found another option in a print perfect for Spring. This particular blouse has a bit more of a “boyfriend” fit than my standard tailored blouse but when worn over poppy jeans with big baubles, I think it will become a wardrobe staple.

I wore these jeans rolled down this weekend and believe it or not I felt really uncomfortable in them. For some reason very tapered jeans without being pegged make me feel dowdy and thick on the bottom. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I nutso?

Oh, and fun fact of this photo shoot: my boyfriend calls these sandals my Pocahontas sandals! Regardless, I love them.

A mod look

ASOS sweater (similar), Zara dress (similar), boutique old sunglasses, SPANX tights, J.Crew boots, Chanel WOC bag

I wore this outfit last Sunday to brunch with some friends. In the spirit of continuing to be risky with my dressing, I decided to layer clothing items I typically wouldn’t. This full sweater from ASOS and skater dress from Zara are adorable alone but even cuter together. While this outfit somewhat hides my body shape, I felt sexy and flirty with the short length of the skirt and fun outfit details.

These are the first sunglasses my boyfriend has EVER loved. He loves how they compliment my face and the interesting color. Who would have thought with a cheap $10 pair from a SF boutique?!

Would you wear this outfit? Do you think this way of layering is flattering enough?
