Restyling a Bridesmaid Dress

IMG_9090-2

Gap jean jacket, Eliza J dress via Nordstrom (same dress in solid colors)(similar floral option), Sole Society booties

The last time I wore this dress it was for my brother’s wedding. I searched for months to find the perfect dress for that evening and when I found this one, for under $200 at Nordstrom I was thrilled. The fit of this is probably one of my favorites of any dress I own and I always feel like a princess when I wear it. Eliza J is also wonderful for both “regular” and plus sized options, so definitely check out the brand if you’re in need of a formal occasion dress.

This dress pairs so well with so many casual items. Booties, sandals, jean jackets or even other printed jackets for winter. I absolutely love how it looks paired down for casual days.

StyleMint Phillips Sweater

StyleMint Phillips sweater (more draped options below), BDG jeans, J.Crew belt, Sincerely Jules Celfie t-shirt, Prada sunglasses, Sam Edelman sandals (on sale at Nordstrom!)

This. Sweater. It has literally been on my body morning, noon and night since I got it. The way this came to be is actually even better. StyleMint sent me an email a few weeks ago saying I had credits that were going to expire. Having never shopped any of the Mint brands I perused the website and decided to take a chance on this sweater, something I wouldn’t have normally spent my money on. Seriously, it has proven to be the most versatile thing in my wardrobe. I wear it on weekends over baggy t-shirts, for work over skinny jeans with boots and a nice top, or for nights out under a tighter-fitting blouse.

I was originally hesitant about the extreme drape but find that when belted it has a cool, casual vibe. Even when left open I love to wear tighter fitting stuff and let the sweater just be a baggy top, almost like an overcoat.

I know that not everyone is into buying from the Mint brands so here are some others that look very similar. P.S. yes, i’m wearing sandals in February. San Francisco loves me. Thank you weather gods!

All Black Sunday

IMG_8943-2

Andrew Marc Jacket (shop more recent versions below), J.Crew shell, Pixie pants, Boots. Ray Ban sunglasses, Louis Vuitton Speedy

I wore this outfit to a party at a coworker’s house on Sunday and felt pretty great. I wanted to be comfortable but still look chic and my go-to to accomplish this is always all black. My pixie pants served me well and these boots are just comfortable enough for all-day wear while still looking put together.

In other news, Cesar and I had an amazing Valentine’s Day. He sent me gorgeous red tulips and cooked me a steak dinner. We capped off the evening binge watching House of Cards. Ob. Sessed.

My jacket from Andrew Marc above is one of the most versatile items in my wardrobe. It happens to be from 2 seasons ago but here are a few updated options i’m loving:

Cold Weather Layering

Club Monaco vest (shop similar options below), Custom jacket from Hong Kong (details here), Madewell dress (shop similar styles below), SPANX tights, Hunter Huntress boots

It has been pouring rain for the last 3 days in San Francisco which has resulted in my Hunter boots getting some heavy rotation, and increased layering. I love putting unexpected pieces together and adore how this faux fur vest looks with this more polished blazer. The polka dot dress adds some fun pattern mixing and the boots tone down the trendiness.

The one benefit of this weather (aside from the natural benefits, of course)? My hair adores humidity! These curls are aux-natural and i’m obsessed with the lack of heat styling that’s necessary.
