Striped Skater Dress For Work

Gap dress (old, similar), Ferragamo “Vara” pumps, Vintage belt

You’ve seen this dress before, but I wanted to restyle it sans tights and for warmer weather as we head into Summer. Honestly, I couldn’t love this dress more. It has a dramatic shape and the stripes give it some added interest. Paired with my classic Ferragamo Vara’s (still one of my best investments to date), it is a cute outfit that works perfectly for the office or out to dinner.

Once again these amazing photos were shot by my talented friend Erica Garlieb. She is a fantastic new photographer in the Bay Area. Love. Obsessed.

Tibi Peplum, Nordstrom x Topshop skirt (similar), Sam Edelman sandals (old, but these are amazing), J.Crew bracelet, Clinique lipstick in “Roundest Raspberry”

Yesterday’s post was all about styling this top casually for weekend wear, but today’s takes this gorgeous peplum out for evening. I paired it with my favorite bold skirt and classic heels, and kept the other accessories to a minimum. I really wanted my hair and lip color to accent the top, which is the true focal point of the outfit. Likewise, on this particular day I had the amazing opportunity to shoot with Erica Garlieb, a sensational SF-based photographer. Her talent is seriously unmatched and I couldn’t be more grateful for the chance, and thrilled with the results.

Thank you again Erica for these amazing photos. And i’d love to know from you guys, which outfit style is your favorite for this top?

Tibi Button-Back Cotton Peplum – Style 1

Tibi blouse, James Jeans, J.Crew flats (half off in these gorgeous pastel colors)

I purchased this peplum months ago, and have been waiting to style it for the blog ever since. To say that it has become one of my favorite pieces would be an understatement. It is the cotton, Summer version to this blouse, and I couldn’t be more obsessed with the dramatic shape. Here I paired it with simple high-rise straight leg jeans, my favorite bright flats and some cute accessories. I have also worn it more formally with a pencil skirt and heels. That outfit will be up tomorrow, so stay tuned!

These photos were actually shot in a very special place by a very special group of ladies. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I have another life update for you all. I have gotten quite a few emails asking about my work and if something had changed, and it has! I have officially joined the Poshmark team full-time, and couldn’t be more thrilled. There are an amazing crop of bloggers that happen to work at the company in different capacities, and the ladies shoot outfit photos at the end of each day. These were shot by my love, Maria.

How To: Choose A Flattering Crossbody Bag

IMG_0736-2

Andrew Marc jacket, Anthropologie top (50% off!), BDG jeans, Steve Madden boots, Crossbody from Italy (similar below)

Over the last few weeks, I have received quite a few requests to do a post about crossbody bags. How I shop for them, how I wear them, and what I look for in the perfect bag. In my personal collection, the one that I use the most is a buttery leather black bag from a trip to Italy a few years back. It is the perfect size and has served me so well over the years. Here are the key components I looked for when shopping for the ideal crossbody bag:

1). I always look for unstructured crossbody bags. The weight on the side of your hip looks better when the bag drapes around the body, versus adding bulk with structure

2). Size is key. A medium size bag is ideal. On someone of my size (for reference i’m 5’6), a super petite bag will look out of place. However a huge duffle is impractical. A medium size and shape holds everything I need without being the focal point of the outfit.

3). Play with placement. I always opt for bags that have adjustable straps. That way I can play with the length and have it sit just perfectly on my body. For me, this is square on my hip. I find that any higher and I look short, and any lower the bag pulls me down and looks sloppy

Here are a few crossbody options in the general size range and structure I was speaking about. Any would be amazing, basic additions to a wardrobe:
