Macy’s Jumpsuit and Layered Tibi Peplum

Tibi blouse (reviewed here), Macy’s jumpsuit – under $35!, Vintage Gucci belt, Prada sunglasses, Sole Society boots – over 50% off c/o

My mom would LOVE this outfit. After reviewing these pictures I immediately thought of her and had visions of her wearing this exact outfit in the 70’s or 80’s. She is much more of a pants and top lady than one for dresses and the wide leg of these trousers just scream her name.

When I first reviewed this Tibi top, I had visions of belting it. I wanted to restyle this jumpsuit with a bit more coverage for Winter and love that this blouse looks just as amazing belted as it does free-flowing. I’m having a peplum moment lately and this black on black just kicks it up a notch in style points.

This picture above? Probably my favorite picture of myself. Yeah, i’m gonna say I look good.

Also, this picture above reminds me of Rachel Zoe. All that’s missing is a floppy hat and maybe even rounder sunnies.

Ugh. Gold jewels, Gucci, black on black and a peplum, absolute win. You NEED these pieces in your wardrobe.

Winter Shoe Essentials

Winter Shoe Essentials

Rain Boots (example outfit post), Warm Boots (example outfit), Patent Flats (example outfit), Classic Leather (example outfit)

I was walking to work with a colleague the other day and she made the comment that I seem to rotate between a few pairs of shoes. Now, granted, I commute to work (we walk 2 miles each way) so my commuting shoes have to be amazingly sturdy. But aside from those pairs she was incredibly observant in noticing that in the Winter time, my shoe options are limited and I tend to stay within a few holy grail pairs. My rain boots are for cold or wet days. Patent flats are sturdy when walking to lunches in cold weather, and pair well with tights. Basic black leather acts as a workhorse for skirts or jeans tucked in. And comfy boots are for those days when I need to commute ultra warm or want a bit of added comfort.

I’d love to know, what are your Winter shoe essentials? Is there something i’m glaringly missing?

New Found Basic: J.Crew Drapey Swing Tee

J.Crew Swing Tee (on sale for $24 plus an additional 40%!), James Jeans, Ferragamo flats, Ray Ban sunglasses

A few weeks ago J.Crew was having one of their sale on sale on sales, and I succumbed to the pressure. I never like to buy final sale items that require any structured fit (read: blazers, pants, etc) but basic knits are always a great deal. The description of this baggy t-shirt caught my attention: swing tee. On weekends you’ll often catch me in J.Crew pixie pants and boots, and have been in need of a looser fitting t-shirt to drape over the unflattering waistband of those leggings.

Not only was the cut of this shirt amazing for those purposes, but I love the slight batwing sleeve, and additional details in the curved hem. I adore that I can also drape this top off one shoulder for additional styling options.

For such a cheap price, I picked up two colors and have been living in them since. Absolute wardrobe staples! For reference, I ordered a size L just for additional room.

Double Peplum and Monochrome Hot Pink

Ted Baker peplum (review), Old Navy dress (here in stripe) (review), Prada sunglasses, Coach sandals (similar)

Admittedly, i’ve been in an outfit funk for a few weeks. Every outfit I document for you guys has just felt off. Either i’ve felt gross in it or i’m just not happy with the styling. So the other day when i was getting ready, I sat in front of my closet for a good 15 minutes and allowed myself the time to pull options. I layered pieces i’ve never layered, pulled items that weren’t seasonally appropriate and just gave myself the freedom to do whatever came naturally. This outfit was the result and I love it.

It never donned on me to go monochromatic. I consider myself an expert pattern mixer and that is a comfortable area for me, but mixing items within the same color family, not so much. Each of these pieces are ones that I adore individually, and ironically are the only hot pink items in my wardrobe.

When I put them together and the slight peplum of the dress paired with the extreme peplum of the top came together, magic happened. I felt so chic, so well styled and best of all, felt amazing in what I was wearing.

While I know the majority of the world is in a polar vortex right now, San Francisco has been pretty mild and we can typically get away with bare legs. Just let this outfit pull you into warmer weather!

I hope you enjoyed and thanks so much for experimenting with me!
