Banana Republic Sloan Pant Review

Gap jacket, Target shirt, Sweet & Spark necklace, Tory Burch sunnies, Banana Republic “Sloan” pants, Ferragamo pumps

This last weekend my Banana Republic Sloan pants finally came in the mail, so I thought I would style them up and give them a quick review. If you remember in my post last week, I have been intrigued by these pants for a while, always seeing them on petite bloggers and thought I would test them for pears. In short, while they are amazing quality, I am not super thrilled with these pants for a few reasons.

As you can see from each of these photos, the material tends to cling. It is a stretch cotton and shows every imperfection on a curvy body. They have much more stretch than a typical jean and as such, I don’t feel as “pulled together” as I would wearing another more substantial pant.

I’m not a huge fan of the stretching across the knee area or the bunching in the crotch. Furthermore, the length on me comes just around my ankle (for reference, i’m wearing a size 12 regular) and hits at an awkward part, making me appear shorter than I am.

The length issue is more evident from the side. I would need to have the pants slimmed and hemmed to hit where I typically like them, 2-3 inches above my ankle. Finally, I had quite a bit of waist gap in a size 12 but couldn’t have gone smaller for fear of it rippling across my widest part. Typically pear issue!

In short, I loved the color of these pants and think they would be wonderful for an apple shape, or even petites, but for this curvy lady, i’m still on the hunt for the perfect work pant.

Ann Taylor “Chelsea” Crop, Revisited and Renamed

Black Pants for WorkForever 21 mint peplum (cap sleeve option) + belt, Ann Taylor “Chelsea” crop pant (now called “Carnegie” crop), Ferragamo shoes

It has been nearly a year since I slipped on my old favorite Chelsea crop. I used to live in these pants at work. They were the perfect mix of comfy and office appropriate and as I got more comfortable with the cuffed pants look, they became an absolute staple. But, interestingly enough, as I was writing this post and wanted to link back these pants for you, I noticed that Ann Taylor has changed the naming of these pants from the “Chelsea” crop to the “Carnegie.” While I can’t attest to whether the fit is the same, the stock photo looks identical to the old style. I am eager to get into a dressing room and try them on for comparison.

Hard Tail Legging Review & Weekend Morning Routine

Hard Tail Capri Review

Harvard sweatshirt, Hard Tail Keyhole Capri leggings c/o, Prada sunglasses, Michael Kors sneakers

Most of the time you all see me looking put together, and well, clothed properly. But the reality of it is that on weekend mornings I throw on a variation of this exact outfit, walk down my street to the local coffee shop and grab the same Strawberry Banana Chia smoothie you see in my hand and come back home to prepare the rest of breakfast. My hair is up in a bun, I throw on my most comfy pants and sweatshirt, and sport big sunnies to avoid having to put on makeup. Since discovering Hard Tail a few years ago this routine has become decidedly more put together with the addition of their leggings rather than baggy sweatpants (truth).

Hard Tail Legging Review

These Hard Tail capri’s are my 4th pair from the line and I looooove them. I buy Hard Tail for two reasons: 1) they suck you in everywhere 2) they are high waisted and provide tummy control, and these aren’t any different. The grey design at the bottom adds some interest and the capri length versus my usual full-pant makes it easier to pair with shoes.

Hard Tail pant review

I always size down to a Medium in Hard Tail, just for added control but if you want to avoid the slight indentation of the grey lines in these particular pants, i’d recommend going with your regular size.

I’m curious, what is your weekend morning routine? Do you leave the house at all? And, below please find the other Hard Tail pants i’ve owned and sincerely loved.

Anthropologie Embellished Sleeve Top, Reworked

Anthropologie top, Banana Republic jeans, Pour La Victoire wedges, Chanel WOC

A few nights ago I had the pleasure of attending RewardStyle’s Back to School night. They gathered quite a few bloggers in Fort Mason and talked all things blogging and social media. Anytime I get together with bloggers I am instantly more comfortable busting out my crazy duds. If you remember this top from this post, I love it, but Cesar doesn’t so I tend to reserve it for girls only evenings.

Embellished sweater2

This time I paired it with my favorite BR jeans that i’m actually dying to get a second pair of. These have been true workhorses and no designer jean even comes close.

And a few other embellished tops i’m obsessed over. Like really, poor Cesar.
