Flattering, Inexpensive White Jeans

white jeans for pearshapes

Old Navy Sweetheart SkinnyOld Navy Sweetheart Bootcut, DKNY Soho Skinny

White jeans are something i’ve only briefly discussed on this blog, and generally in the vein of “these looks terrible!” But recently i’ve been itching for a pair of flattering crisp white jeans to wear with floral tops in Spring, comfy cashmere sweaters and flats running around the city, and nights by the fire on the beach.

The Old Navy sweetheart skinny has been said to be flattering on curvy girls and would look great with sandals or flats. The sweetheart bootcut also fits those with curves and the slightly flared leg is always a great idea to balance out hips. Finally, the DKNY skinny attracted me as a pegged jean option and the high waist also adds some interest and tummy control. All under $60 and with great reviews, I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong with any of them.

Let me know if you have found some white jeans you love and i’ll be sure to keep you posted on which one I choose!

Pastel Peplum for Day w/ Maroon & Mint Color Combo

Forever 21 top (similar) and belt, Ann Taylor curvy skinny jeans (here in denim), Tieks flats, LOFT and J.Crew bracelets

This weekend in SF was absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining and boyfriend and I had zero plans and tons of city to explore. I wanted to wear something that would keep me a little warmer but that definitely had major color. The last time I wore this peplum top it was with basic jeans and I am looooving how the mint color pairs with these maroon/eggplant pants from Ann Taylor.

If you haven’t picked up these pants from Ann Taylor, they are an absolute must in the pearshape world. Seriously, I have them in two colors and I am naturally not one to repeat purchase.

Stay tuned tomorrow for how I quickly turned this outfit into a nighttime ensemble with little effort!

Styling Leggings in Cold Weather

Andrew Marc leather jacket (similar), vintage turtleneck, J.Crew Pixie leggings, J.Crew boots, Zara bib

After a glorious couple of days this weekend, Sunday rolled around and it was like we were living in an entirely different city. The temperature dropped so drastically that I found myself pulling out my favorite cold weather leggings, cashmere turtlenecks and boots. I always have a tougher time styling leggings but have found that by following a simple methodology, I always look clean and put together.

1) Pick a blouse-y top. A looser fitting top will help you feel more comfortable as the leggings tend to cut into our stomach area

2) Layer. See point above. Thin layers never hurt

3) Never, ever wear ankle boots. I always opt for knee-high boots when wearing leggings and haven’t yet found a way to wear sandals or ankle boots with them. The higher line allows for the feeling of a cleaner silhouette and avoids truncating the leg line.

On an unrelated note. Welcome to the roof of my building! Our apartment specifically has access to the roof which we use often for entertaining. I hope you enjoy another peak into our place!

Transitioning Work Pants into Spring, the J.Crew Cafe Capri

J.Crew hat, Target top (similar in grey), J.Crew cafe capri, DSW no-name wedge

I’m the biggest fan of taking one clothing item and using it different ways. You may remember my review of these J.Crew cafe capri pants for work nearly a year ago. During an unseasonably warm day this last weekend in the city, I reached for them again but decided to find a way to dress them down just a bit and make them Sunday appropriate.

I think the key to this look is in the details. The striped hat (that i’m totally planning a tropical vacation around…) and open toed wedges give it a Spring/Summer vibe and help to camouflage the otherwise stuffy, office nature of these pants. I also rolled the hems messily to give an even further relaxed look.

Finished with some coral lip color and fun sunglasses, I felt incredibly comfortable and put together for Sunday brunch with my love.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Thanks for reading! xo
