Dolce Vita Isla Booties + Amanda Uprichard Peplum

Amanda Uprichard top via Revolve Clothing, James Jeans, Dolce Vita “Isla” booties (Currently sold out, but very similar option HERE and below), Ray Ban sunglasses

Clearly i’m having a peplum moment. I just can’t get over how wonderful they look paired with nearly everything. Over dresses, with skirts, or basic jeans and booties for a night out. This one from Amanda Uprichard is so gorgeous and stretches to fit most shapes. The seaming down the front along with the zipper create a gorgeous shape, and the short length gives it a bit of a different feel without feeling too girly.

And of course I had to add on my little elephant friend for a bit of flare!

Also, you NEED these booties, or something like it. A comfortable 2.5 inch heel and low profile make these so incredibly flattering to wear with nearly anything. I scored mine on sale at Anthropologie and can’t for the life of me find them anywhere else. They are by Dolce Vita and are called the “Isla” bootie if you want to try and find them, but otherwise I sourced a few similar options below.

J.Crew Fluted Skirt and Mixed Winter Prints

J.Crew T-shirt, Scarf (similar), Skirt and Boots (this year’s)

So I have a J.Crew addiction. Sue me. Also, Cesar loves this outfit. #Winner. But in all seriousness, I didn’t notice how much this skirt highlights my recent pooch as it does in these photos. In real life I feel much more comfortable wearing tops that tuck into this skirt but these pictures make me look preggo (not preggo, for reference). Regardless, I really like this outfit and appreciate the European feel it has.

Each of these pieces have been true workhorses for me since purchased. This skirt has been styled countless ways and this scarf makes the perfect pattern mix basic. J.Crew boots have also surprised me. While not the most comfortable shoes for long-time wear, they are sleek and serve the purpose for nights out and work days.

What are your thoughts on this skirt? Does anyone else own it?

Cold Weather Layering

Club Monaco vest (shop similar options below), Custom jacket from Hong Kong (details here), Madewell dress (shop similar styles below), SPANX tights, Hunter Huntress boots

It has been pouring rain for the last 3 days in San Francisco which has resulted in my Hunter boots getting some heavy rotation, and increased layering. I love putting unexpected pieces together and adore how this faux fur vest looks with this more polished blazer. The polka dot dress adds some fun pattern mixing and the boots tone down the trendiness.

The one benefit of this weather (aside from the natural benefits, of course)? My hair adores humidity! These curls are aux-natural and i’m obsessed with the lack of heat styling that’s necessary.

Top 3 Boot Brands for Wide Calves

top 3 boot brands for wide calves2

J.Crew flat boot, Hunter “Huntress” rain boot, DUO Custom Wide Calf Heeled Boot

One of my most visited posts of all time surrounds wide-calf boots, and my never ending search for the perfect pairs. After many years of ordering and sending back boots that just didn’t quite work, i’ve found my staple items, and the brands that carry them. I wholeheartedly believe that every woman shouldn’t be without a basic black riding boot, a pair of rain boots, and a classic heeled leather boot. These have served me well across varying types of weather, through many states and in numerous formal and casual occasions.

My black riding boots are from J.Crew extended calf sizing, and I love them (see my full review here). I have styled them with jeans and skirts, and they are absolute workhorses in my wardrobe. In fact, they have already lasted me through two seasons.

Hunter Huntress boots were a newer discovery. Always wanting a pair, I searched long and hard before finding the Huntress, their extended calf version. While they don’t come in many colors, they fit my 16 inch calf beautifully (review here) and have been worn through countless weekends.

My DUO boots were a purchase of necessity. I spent close to 2 years searching for the perfect heeled, extended calf boot. I finally stumbled across DUO and was drawn into their custom-fit option. I took the plunge and ordered from this UK-based brand and have loved them. They have so many gorgeous, chic styles that you would never be able to tell the boot is extended calf. An absolute lifesaver and a work staple (see my last styling here).

Are there any brands you love for extended calf sizes?
