James Perse LBD Made Casual

Ray Ban aviators, James Perse dress (this year’s version), Target belt, SPANX tights, Seychelles boots (newer version)

You saw a snippet of this outfit in yesterday’s post on Dress + Belt Pairings and it’s one of my favorite ensembles. I hadn’t really worn this dress since Cesar and I did our 3 year anniversary shoot (can you believe we just celebrated 3.5 years!) but every time I put it on i’m reminded of why I bought it. It instantly makes me feel so sexy and even though it shows every wrinkle and flaw, i’ve always worked to embrace that and rock dresses like these anyway.

I wanted to make this dress more casual so I threw on a skinny belt, tied it in a knot for a more undone look, and added my favorite combat boots and aviators. A side pony and pink lip finished it off for a Sunday with my man.

DUO Custom Calf Boots

DUO Bassey custom-calf boot

Ladies! I seriously cannot scream this from the rooftop loud enough: I found a solution to wide-calf problems! The kindest of readers in my last post complaining about a lack of wide-calf boots recommended a company called DUO. They are a UK based brand that makes custom width boots for ladies with wide or thin calves. Absolutely desperate for a pair high heeled leather boots, I ordered these Bassey’s and love them. The calf circumference fits me amazingly, the heel is a perfect 4 inches with a 1 inch platform, and the leather is so supple.

This particular style is a zip on with the zipper at the back of the calf. The heel is stacked and the toe is a gorgeous round almond shape. The interior is lightly padded making them great for colder weather and the sole is also lightly padded for walkability. I seriously couldn’t recommend checking out this brand more.

P.S. totally not a sponsored post, I just love this brand!

Holiday Outfit: Leather DVF

DVF dress 50% off! (reviewed here), Club Monaco belt, SPANX tights, Sole Society booties, Borrowed clutch (similar), Kendra Scott necklace (similar), Revlon lipstick

A seriously hardcore outfit in DVF leather and Club Monaco studs. I must say I felt like the female version of a bad ass in this outfit. Hot, powerful, and sexy in leather.

I ordered this Club Monaco belt during the ShopBop holiday sale and love it. I immediately knew it would be a winner with the slim center and back, effectively drawing the eye inward and presenting a narrowed affect. The studs don’t hurt either!

The one change I think I would make to this outfit is patterned tights. I’m rectifying this issue as we speak, picking up this pair from SPANX (my obsession).

This clutch was borrowed from Luci and it’s fantastic. The studs, while silver, are such a great pairing to this outfit.

Stay tuned for another Holiday Outfit idea next week, and a fitting room review of the sequins dress featured in this post tomorrow!

Review: Hush Puppies Velvet Bow Flats for Under $40

DSC_1553-2

Vintage scarf (similar), Tibi blouse (reviewed here), BDG jeans (reviewed here), Hush Puppies flats via DSW

In my world this is what a holiday outfit for the month of December entails. If I could wear some formula of fun bow flats, basic black (with a twist!) and a chunky scarf i’d be a happy camper. I went a bit rogue and decided to pair skinny jeans with flats without pegging them. Admittedly it felt a bit uncomfortable, but i’m all about breaking out of my shell as the new year approaches.

I also plaid around with a new curling iron borrowed from my blogging best, Luci, and love the loose definition it gives my hair.

These bow flats were a steal at my local DSW for a mere $40! They are perhaps the most adorable shoes I own. I recommend you run to DSW to grab them.
