Macy’s Jumpsuit and Layered Tibi Peplum

Tibi blouse (reviewed here), Macy’s jumpsuit - under $35!, Vintage Gucci belt, Prada sunglasses, Sole Society boots - over 50% off c/o

My mom would LOVE this outfit. After reviewing these pictures I immediately thought of her and had visions of her wearing this exact outfit in the 70′s or 80′s. She is much more of a pants and top lady than one for dresses and the wide leg of these trousers just scream her name.

When I first reviewed this Tibi top, I had visions of belting it. I wanted to restyle this jumpsuit with a bit more coverage for Winter and love that this blouse looks just as amazing belted as it does free-flowing. I’m having a peplum moment lately and this black on black just kicks it up a notch in style points.

This picture above? Probably my favorite picture of myself. Yeah, i’m gonna say I look good.

Also, this picture above reminds me of Rachel Zoe. All that’s missing is a floppy hat and maybe even rounder sunnies.

Ugh. Gold jewels, Gucci, black on black and a peplum, absolute win. You NEED these pieces in your wardrobe.

Outfit Miss: Vintage + Club Monaco Faux Fur

IMG_8249-2

Vintage sweater, Club Monaco faux fur (my style is sold out, but this one is similar and on sale!), James Jeans, DUO boots, Prada sunglasses

For the new year one of the things I want to continue to do on this blog is be completely open and honest about my outfits, even if they aren’t stellar. So I figured I would start the year out with an outfit that fits in the not-so-great bucket.

Looking at these pictures I kind of have mixed feelings about this outfit. I didn’t realize how puffy the arms of this sweater truly are, and how odd looking the turtleneck is. But, as mentioned, this blog is about showcasing what I actually wear, good or bad!

Regardless of the turtleneck, I do still loooove this vest, and am constantly surprised how versatile it is. It has been a wonderful layering piece under jackets and the perfect piece to throw on to head outside in the brisk San Francisco weather.

Also, these boots. Can we just talk about them for a second? Amaze.

On my wish list for the new year, these sunglasses to change up the shade game. Happy 2014!

Helmut Lang Puffer Coat and SPANX Tight-End Tights

IMG_7202Helmut Lang jacket – 50% off in black (borrowed from Jennifer), vintage dress (last styled here), SPANX tights, Kelsi Dagger shoes (love these in black), vintage Yigal Azrouel belt

Last weekend a bunch of blogging bests and I got together for some food and picture taking at my apartment. Arguably one of the greatest days, what made the day also so much fun was seeing what these other stylish ladies were wearing. Jennifer busted out this gorgeous Helmut Lang puffer coat and I was immediately obsessed. Luckily we are almost the same size so I was able to borrow it for a few hours that day, and now have decided I need it in my life. P.S. i’m in luck, it’s on sale for over 50% off in black multi-color here.

I love the contrast of the edgy puffer coat with this very vintage floral dress. I am always a fan of mixing textures and look/feel and added to the “winter wonderland” style by sporting these grey shearling booties.

My SPANX tight-end tights are always on my legs these days, and helped to complete this outfit. Although, i’m now thinking I need a navy pair of tights for outfits just like this. I can’t recommend SPANX for tights/leggings enough. I have traditional semi-opaque pairs like the one shown here and quite a few pairs of their “leggings” which feel more like a thicker tight for colder days. Seriously a favorite.

Look at that high-low cut at the back of that jacket! So flattering.

For more styling of this gem, see it today on Jennifer as well! Also, thank you so much for your wide-calf boot recommendations on this post. I am checking out all of the companies mentioned and love the possibilities!

Vintage Gucci Waist Belt

Gucci White and Black

J.Crew gauze blouse (very similar + cheaper), Vintage Gucci waist belt, BDG jeans, Coach heels (old, but very similar)

Waist belts are my absolute staple (evidence here and here, to name a few). They give me the freedom to purchase as free-flowing of tops and dresses as my heart desires, all the while maintaining the confidence that I can cinch them in and create definition. When I came across this authentic vintage Gucci waist belt at an absolute steal, I knew I had to have it. It satisfies my need (for now) for the classic Hermes “Constance” belt and that waist-logo design.

Classic Black and White

Gucci Waist Belt

I knew what I wanted to pair this belt with immediately when I bought it. This J.Crew blouse was last styled tucked into basic jeans but it’s flow-y nature was asking for a beautiful belt. Classic black, white, and nude allow the gold yet slightly rose-gold tint of the belt to stand out.

With branch-like detailing, generous 2 inch diameter, and beautifully preserved leather, this belt will become an absolute staple.

Here are a few other Gucci and waist belts that are similar, online:
