Vintage Gucci Waist Belt

Gucci White and Black

J.Crew gauze blouse (very similar + cheaper), Vintage Gucci waist belt, BDG jeans, Coach heels (old, but very similar)

Waist belts are my absolute staple (evidence here and here, to name a few). They give me the freedom to purchase as free-flowing of tops and dresses as my heart desires, all the while maintaining the confidence that I can cinch them in and create definition. When I came across this authentic vintage Gucci waist belt at an absolute steal, I knew I had to have it. It satisfies my need (for now) for the classic Hermes “Constance” belt and that waist-logo design.

Classic Black and White

I knew what I wanted to pair this belt with immediately when I bought it. This J.Crew blouse was last styled tucked into basic jeans but it’s flow-y nature was asking for a beautiful belt. Classic black, white, and nude allow the gold yet slightly rose-gold tint of the belt to stand out.

With branch-like detailing, generous 2 inch diameter, and beautifully preserved leather, this belt will become an absolute staple.

Mixing Animal Prints & Larger Than Life Hair

Equipment sweater, Target belt, Ann Taylor curvy slim jeans (here in traditional denim), Chanel vintage flats (obsessed with these), Etsy tassel keychain

Hello lion hair, Batman! My hair is getting seriously thick and curly. I’m secretly obsessed with it but boyfriend thinks it’s time for a trim. In other news, this is so the traditional SF evening outfit. Read: it’s freezing and i’m wearing cashmere in July.

Even though it’s freezing out at nights, I try and keep things a little interesting by mixing animal print patterns (always in the same color family) and wearing my favorite designer flats.

Oh, and how amazing is this tassel! I finally dressed up my keys (mainly so my boyfriend would stop mixing ours up) and ordered this keychain from Etsy.

Thanks so much for reading! And if anyone knows of any amazing hairdressers to tame this mane in the SF Bay Area, please comment below!

Club Monaco Bubble Hem Top & Gucci Repurposed “Clutch”

Club Monaco top, Paige jeans, Ferragamo pumps, Prada sunglasses, Gucci “clutch”, J.Crew bracelets (1, 2)

I fell in love with this top during a shopping trip with my bestie when she was in town last week. She always pushes me further out of my comfort zone when it comes to clothing (fact: she was the inspiration behind pegged jeans!) and I love her so much for it. The bubble hem and draped fabric of this piece are not usually characteristics I gravitate towards but when worn right, I think it is going to be a staple for Summer.

I chose a slightly wider leg jean/trouser to pair with this top in order to counterbalance some of the heaviness. Neutral, unobtrusive shoes add to the streamlined look and bold sunglasses draw the eye up. I also chose relatively unassuming accessories to allow the top to have all of the focus.

My favorite feature of this top are the side ties. It allows me to adjust the fullness of the top and adds some interest to the sides and away from the heavy drape in the front.

Another fun tidbit of this outfit is this “clutch!” It is actually a sunglasses case I got with a pair of Gucci sunglasses a while back that folds down into the shape you see here. I put a few cards and my lone house key in it for nights out and it acts as the perfect Gucci “clutch,” for free! I highly recommend asking for this sunglasses case the next time you purchase a pair in a department store.

Styling a Chanel Scarf, Part 2

Chanel scarf via LXR&Co, Express skirt, Calvin Klein blazer

Today is the last day to enter the Chanel scarf giveaway in honor of ThePearShape’s 1st birthday. Thank you so much to everyone that has entered so far, I am completely overwhelmed by the response and am so glad everyone loved this particular gift I picked out. I wanted to show another very different way to style this scarf for a dressier evening out, proving just how versatile this accessory is.

Worn with all black, I draped the scarf around my neck and tucked it just inside my blazer lapels to allow the color to peak out. This gave a beautiful flush to my face and compliments red lipstick beautifully. With loose hair and basic eye makeup, this is a stunning dinner or night out look.

Another more cheeky way to style the scarf is to tie it around the neck. This slightly Parisian style is reminiscent of flight attendants but I think is absolutely stunning and regal.
