Holiday Outfit Idea: Piperlime Gilded Gold

IMG_7107-2

LOFT trench (similar), Ark & Co dress via Piperlime, SPANX tights, Seychelles boots (this season’s), Chanel WOC

The next iteration in my Holiday Outfit series is probably my favorite to date. At heart I am a show-stopper kind of gal when it comes to clothing. The flashier the better, without sacrificing comfort. This outfit comprises all of my favorites: a comfortable yet flattering dress, flat boots, glam hair and red lipstick.

This Ark & Co dress was scored on major sale at Piperlime a few weeks back. I own nothing remotely similar in my closet and loved the printed gold departure from my norm.

I decided to pair it with my favorite flat boots to keep the outfit more casual. I’ve said before that heels are not my best friend, so for a Holiday party with family and my boyfriend, comfort matters to me.

The fit and flare of this dress coupled with the short sleeves make it so flattering, I absolutely love it!

Review: Vince Wool Car Coat

IMG_6766-2

Vince Wool Car Coat (on sale!) (wearing size L), Nordstrom white T-Shirt, JamesJeans jeans (linked in dark wash), Jack Purcell shoes

Last week during Nordstrom’s half-yearly sale I had one of the most major shopping scores of my young shopper career. This Vince car coat, which i’ve been eyeing for a while, was 40% off with the last one available in my size. I received the coat just a few days later and legitimately have not taken it off since. It is just so gorgeous (especially on a fuller figured girl, rather than the slim model) and I absolutely love it.

Truthfully, I don’t own any other item like this. It is the most draped, softly structured garment in my closet but I love it for precisely that reason. The way that the contrasting colors drape in the front, the length hitting right at my knees and freeing feel make it so much fun to wear.

The coat is wool and is a two-tone color with a light charcoal coating the outside, and a soft camel fully lining the interior. When the coat is turned up at the sleeves or blows in the wind, the gorgeous camel peeks through.

IMG_6784-2

The snaps you see above technically work to drape the coat over and close on the opposite end, but I do not plan to wear it in this way at all. I love the blanket-like ability to wrap it, and even envision myself wearing it belted.

IMG_6787

The bottom is a beautiful curved hem with slits on either side (much more flattering in my opinion than up the back). The coat also falls fully to my knees in the front and the back, eliminating any unflattering cut across my widest part.

I absolutely could not ask for a more fun yet timeless addition to my closet.

Preliminary Review: Vince Wool Open Front Coat

IMG_2929 IMG_2930

You may remember from this roundup how much I loved this Vince wool coat (still on sale!). It is unlike anything else I own or have ever considered, and when Nordstrom had it at over 40% off and in my size, I had to snatch it up. I plan to do a full, in-depth review of the coat but I wanted to snap these photos with my phone just after pulling it out of the box and give you my initial review. In short, i’m so in love with it. The draping is so flattering, it is long enough in the back that it doesn’t cut across my widest part, and looks just as amazing closed with a belt.

Please excuse the poor photo quality but stay tuned for a full review next week!

Tibi A-Line Blouse Review

IMG_2800-2

Tibi A Line blouse, BDG High Rise jeans, J.Crew extended calf boots (my original review)(this year’s), Andrew Marc leather jacket (this year’s)(here in Plus), Prada sunglasses

For probably a year, I saw a version of this blouse on Ahn, always admiring the unique drape and style for the office but questioning whether a curvier gal could pull it off without looking huge. Shopbop had a 25% off sale a few weeks ago (see the other things I bought) and I spotted the infamous blouse, in silk, in black, and in my size. I pounced. Having never owned a black silk shirt and really gravitating towards unique pieces nowadays (example here), I thought it would be a great addition to my closet.

IMG_2797-2

For safety the first time, I wore this blouse with all black. When I got it and tried it on I loved it, but wasn’t sure how the rest of the world would feel. I figured wearing it for the first time unbelted, with all black would help camouflage it and ease myself into really showcasing it.

IMG_2810-2

As expected, the blouse is very roomy and has little shape. It has an extreme a-line shape and pleating along the bottom. It also has a high-low hemline providing tush coverage in the back. The sleeves are a full length and don’t fit too tightly around the arms and the buttons around the bust are also roomy enough and do not pull on my 32DDD chest.

IMG_2826-2

This picture perfectly shows why I adore this blouse. Look at that shape! I love the uniqueness, the gorgeous silk, the interesting shape. I envision wearing it with my Gucci waist belt in the future for some additional definition, and big chunky bangles as the weather continues to get colder.

IMG_2818-2

From the back, this blouse comes all the way down to below my tush, allowing me to wear it with leggings if I really wanted too. I don’t find the elongated cut to be unflattering in the rear.

IMG_2833-2

I couldn’t love this blouse more and would be so interested to hear your thoughts.
