Weekend Wear with James Jeans

J.Crew cardigan, Old Navy Basic T, James Jeans Hunter High Rise Straight jean c/o (here in dark wash) (my original full review), Jack Purcell shoes, Tory Burch Sunglasses, LV Speedy 30 bag

Last week I did a full review of James Jeans’ Hunter High Rise Straight dark was jean. I was thrilled with the fit and form of the jeans, but made one note about how the dye rubbed off pretty severely on my skin. To my surprise and delight, I received an email from the James Jeans team just a few hours later explaining the situation with the dye, and offering to send me a “surprise” in the mail in consolation. Just a day or two later, a package with three different pairs of James Jeans showed up at my door. I’m so grateful to the team and love my new jeans! I’m set in the denim department for sure.

The jeans i’m wearing in these photos are the exact same pair that I reviewed last week but in a lighter wash. I don’t own any light wash jeans and appreciate the difference. There are no dye issues and the coloring allows me to play around more with casual weekend outfits and create a slightly more relaxed vibe.

As with last week’s pair, this short girl needs to get them hemmed!

Thank you very much to the James Jeans team for my beautiful gifts. I’m so very grateful!

Recommendation: WildFox Sweatpants

wildfox sweatpants

I genuinely feel like you all and I are buddies, besties, friends, for lack of a better way of saying it. So, as I recommend the most random of items to my closest girlfriends, I figured I would start doing that here. No in depth review, no crazy photos, just me saying that I own this item and am obsessed with it so you should be too. In this case, the item is the WildFox Sweatpant. Take it from me, they have a thick waistband, are the softest thing in the world, and as Cesar says it make you look “hot.” Winner in my book.

James Jeans Hunter High Rise Straight Leg

James Jeans (wearing a size 31), Target turtleneck, Madewell belt, Michael Kors sneakers (old, but love these), Tory Burch sunnies

I snapped these pictures quickly last week after receiving these jeans in the mail after the Shopbop sale. I ordered these high rise straight leg jeans in the hopes they would be a high rise option that would allow more versatility in footwear (read: not just boots).

I love the fit but as you can see they are not true high rise jeans on me. I’m guessing it is the extra junk in the trunk, if you catch my drift, that keeps them from rising as high as they look on the model, but I still like the placement. They hit right below my belly button and can be worn with shirts tucked in or untucked just the same.

They are super long, so for any tall ladies, I suggest looking into these. It is on my list to get them hemmed to flats (my preferential shoe height) soon. One other note: these jeans stain. I don’t mean just stain your shoes or bags if you wear them new, but stain your skin. I wore them for a whole day right out of the package and my skin was blue in the shower that night. Lots of scrubbing was needed!

Let me know if you try these out! I’d love to see them on you.

Review: Zara Puffer Coat

Zara Puffer Coat (wearing an XL, more options below), Hat from Europe, LOFT sweater, Banana Republic pants (just repurchased again), Hunter boots, Prada sunnies, Kenneth Cole bag (this year’s, or similar)

San Francisco has decided to jump straight from indian Summer to frigid Winter and i’m feelin’ it on my walk to work every morning. I bought this puffer coat when it was on sale a few months back and reserved it for just this time of year. It is still in stock at Zara and is such a wonderful addition to my standard wool-coat collection for cold weather.

I love that this coat is intensely warm but doesn’t add a ton of bulk. When zipped up it sits very close to the body and doesn’t require a ton of layering underneath as it has a faux-down interior plus a wind-breaker lining. With a fur collar detail and zip-off hood, it has everything I could need to battle the elements.

I also love the exposed zippers at the wrist as well as the curved seaming along the back of the garment.

Finally, with tons of gold hardware and a double-zip and snap closure, it’s a stunner piece without feeling too overdone.

In other words, obsessed. Here are a few other similar coat options if you want something in the same shape but other fabrics:
