Review: Gap Flannel

Gap flannel (same shirt, different color) (40% off!), BDG jeans (on sale for $39), Banana Republic tank (40% off), Steve Madden boots (on sale for $129)

Guys, everything in this post is on sale. #ILoveCyberMonday. I wanted to do a quick review of an item that is definitely new to me: the flannel shirt. My best girlfriend was in town and her style couldn’t be more different than mine, but she pulled out this blue flannel shirt from Gap and I was intrigued. I kind of love the semi-grunge look and adore how these flannel shirts (from the men’s department) look unbuttoned with a basic outfit. I chose to pair this gorgeous cobalt one with all black jeans, tank and boots and dress it up with lipstick and a gorgeous necklace given to me as a gift.

The look of this shirt is definitely more casual but I think it will be so much fun paired with colored skinnies through the winter.

If you follow me on Instagram you saw this necklace. My girlfriend gave this to me for Hanukkah. It is a repurposed vintage Chanel button, set in a cold plate and put on a gold chain. She picked it up in an antique shop in Paris and I couldn’t love it more. Chanel jewelry for less!

Black Jeans + Black Friday Shopping

J.Crew chambray shirt (favorite, obsessed), James Jeans black denim (here in similar black finish), Superga sneakers, Madewell belt

Just a casual day-off look with some of my favorite pieces. Classic chambray, the best black denim and classic white sneaks. Pulled together with an amazing belt and similarly-colored sunglasses.

This Black Friday there are a few sales i’m eyeing, looking to add some unique, fun pieces to my wardrobe and also shop for upcoming holiday parties. Here are a few things i’ve picked up (the black/white striped dress & black belt) or am stalking, and the sales i’m loving:

Shopbop – up to 25% off (lot’s of larger sizes available)

Saks Fifth Avenue – up to 60% off

Gap – 50% off everything (love for basics)

Banana Republic – 40% off everything (amazing for layering tanks, reviewed here)

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Review: Vince Wool Car Coat

IMG_6766-2

Vince Wool Car Coat (on sale!) (wearing size L), Nordstrom white T-Shirt, JamesJeans jeans (linked in dark wash), Jack Purcell shoes

Last week during Nordstrom’s half-yearly sale I had one of the most major shopping scores of my young shopper career. This Vince car coat, which i’ve been eyeing for a while, was 40% off with the last one available in my size. I received the coat just a few days later and legitimately have not taken it off since. It is just so gorgeous (especially on a fuller figured girl, rather than the slim model) and I absolutely love it.

Truthfully, I don’t own any other item like this. It is the most draped, softly structured garment in my closet but I love it for precisely that reason. The way that the contrasting colors drape in the front, the length hitting right at my knees and freeing feel make it so much fun to wear.

The coat is wool and is a two-tone color with a light charcoal coating the outside, and a soft camel fully lining the interior. When the coat is turned up at the sleeves or blows in the wind, the gorgeous camel peeks through.

The snaps you see above technically work to drape the coat over and close on the opposite end, but I do not plan to wear it in this way at all. I love the blanket-like ability to wrap it, and even envision myself wearing it belted.

The bottom is a beautiful curved hem with slits on either side (much more flattering in my opinion than up the back). The coat also falls fully to my knees in the front and the back, eliminating any unflattering cut across my widest part.

I absolutely could not ask for a more fun yet timeless addition to my closet.

Preliminary Review: Vince Wool Open Front Coat

IMG_2929 IMG_2930

You may remember from this roundup how much I loved this Vince wool coat (still on sale!). It is unlike anything else I own or have ever considered, and when Nordstrom had it at over 40% off and in my size, I had to snatch it up. I plan to do a full, in-depth review of the coat but I wanted to snap these photos with my phone just after pulling it out of the box and give you my initial review. In short, i’m so in love with it. The draping is so flattering, it is long enough in the back that it doesn’t cut across my widest part, and looks just as amazing closed with a belt.

Please excuse the poor photo quality but stay tuned for a full review next week!
