With the festive season fast approaching, I thought i’d share some holiday outfit ideas i’ve been bookmarking lately. This year i’m so drawn to metallics and muted greens, instead of your typical red and gold. I’m also lovely the simplicity of dresses, and how easy they are to pair with statement earrings, an awesome shoe and a bold clutch for a quick party outfit.
There are so many reasons i’m obsessed with this outfit: 1) i’m layering two vests. Who does that? This girl. 2) These booties are new and are so. amazing. Comfortable, versatile, the best. 3) The trench dress turned vest in these photos has gone with me everywhere since I scooped it up. I mean, brunch on a Sunday with stretchy pants to work meetings.
So much bling and so many textures. Layering was clearly what I was feeling on this particular day.
In all seriousness, these booties are the business. They are a manageable 3.5 inch heel and are so incredibly walkable. This coming from the girl who admittedly teeters in most stilettos.
A big smile to end your week!
Well, i’ve added another member to the Purse Family. He’s a gorgeous McQueen zip around tote and i’m in love. I made this impulse purchase to celebrate quite a few things in life: a new apartment, new job, a birthday. Generally just to welcome this new chapter in my life. I’ve never done something like this for myself before, honestly. Purchased something spur of the moment. Every major purchase has been coldly calculated, saved for, and thought through. But to be completely transparent, it felt amazing to be able to do this for myself. And I couldn’t be happier.
Also newly added to the wardrobe: these Nike tennis shoes!
A new Nordstrom Rack opened in Union Square a few weeks ago, and after work one day a colleague and I couldn’t help but go check it out. It’s still so new and all of the merchandise is in its proper place, with amazing finds from some really fantastic designers. I spotted this Joie shift dress on the rack and picked it up immediately. The red and daisy print reminds me of my mom in the 70′s so much. I figured immediately that it would be too short, shapeless, or not suitable for my curves but opted to try it on. Much to my delight and surprise, I was immediately obsessed with it.
I love that even though the dress is essentially shapeless, it is still fun and flirty. The pleats give it some added interest, and when paired with nude shoes, my legs actually look thinner and a mile long. I threw on this leather jacket to give some form to the dress, but love it just as much without it.
I have a few belts that would work well with this style, and might play around with a belted option, but for now I can’t wait to pair this with more nude shoes for Spring, and tights and boots as we finish off this cold weather.
As I found this dress at a Nordstrom Rack, here are a few more similar options for your viewing pleasure!
