Banana Republic Sloan Ankle Pant

Banana Republic Sloan Pant

Every once in a while I come across a clothing item that has made quite a stir in the fit-blogger community. When Jean posted about her petite experiences with the Banana Republic Sloan pant, and I saw the plethora of positive reviews on the BR website, I knew I had to order them. I have the forrest green color on the left coming my way but if the fit is great, i’ll be putting in for a navy and cranberry pair soon enough. Have any of you tried the Sloan?

Fall Clothing Haul

Fall Haul

Fluted skirt,  Zebra mini, Striped peplum, Tweed peplum, Camo pullover, Cowl neck sweater

It has been quite a while since I did a shopping haul so when the big sales were on this last weekend, I took the opportunity to pick up a few fun things that I think will be great for Fall:

1. I can’t wait to wear this fluted skirt with long sweaters and cardigans for a faux drop-waist look.

2. A purchase completely unlike me, I ordered this zebra mini a few sizes up with the intention of getting it taken in to be worn with tights and boots.

3. This and this peplum are flattering silhouettes but classic cuts that always look great on pears.

4. Picked up this gorgeous sweater in camo (for such a great price) and the most stunning blue cowl neck for cold office days.

Have you been doing any Fall shopping? I’d love to see!

Welcome To The Purse Family: Leopard Kenneth Cole + Review

Leopard Calf Hair Leopard Handbag from Kenneth Cole

The newest member of the purse family has finally arrived! She is squishy, fat, and absolutely hairy but I love her all the same. I have been on the hunt for the perfect leopard handbag forever. I didn’t want to spend a fortune upfront as I wasn’t entirely sure how much I would wear such a loud print. With a small-ish budget and very specific taste, it took me nearly a year of searching to find the perfect one.

This Kenneth Cole satchel retails for nearly $500 but I purchased it at half price for $255 with free shipping (score!). It is a convertible shoulder bag with a 10 inch drop, or a cross body when the leather chain cap is removed (as shown below). It is made of 100% calf hair with leather and brass details.

The leather chain strap can be easily snapped on or off to change the look of the bag from a shoulder to a crossbody, or for a more “biker” vibe sans leather. The closure is a turn-lock closure with a metal chained pin that can be looped within for added security.

There are two large pockets on the inside, and smaller cell phone and zipper pockets within. The bag is nearly as roomy as my LV speedy 30, and has flexible sides for extra stuffing. The sides are fastened with brass rivets and the interior is lined with cotton.

My only negative about this handbag is the calf hair, though I imagine this would be an issue with any genuine calf hair bad: it’s itchy! The hair rubs against the body and can be itchy on bare skin. I plan to use the bag mostly in the Winter so it doesn’t bother me too much, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Here are a few other leopard bags I was coveting, at various price points, just incase your budget can stretch a bit further than mine:

Have a happy Labor Day Weekend!

Layering A Wrap Dress + Purchases for China

Casual wrap dress

J.Crew sweater (old, similar), Old Navy wrap dress (my color is sold out, but loving this print), Sam Edelman sandals, Prada sunglasses, MAC lipstick in “Asian Flower”

Welcome to my attempt at reworking a wrap dress. I last wore this dress to my sister-in-law’s bridal shower in New York and loved it so much I wanted to find a way to wear it again. It was a bit chilly in SF on that particular day, so a sleeveless top wasn’t going to work. I quickly threw on this white sweater and in retrospect, i’m not digging the boxy shape it gives me. I feel like I sort of look like a big rectangle. But, in the interest of honesty, I can’t always show you guys just my winning outfits now can i?!

Still loving the side braid and my fab lipstick from MAC though!

How would you have styled this dress? ALSO: I’ve been doing a bit of shopping for China and wanted to share my purchases with you below. A full review + detailed list coming soon!
