Pastel Peplum for Day w/ Maroon & Mint Color Combo

Forever 21 top (similar) and belt, Ann Taylor curvy skinny jeans (here in denim), Tieks flats, LOFT and J.Crew bracelets

This weekend in SF was absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining and boyfriend and I had zero plans and tons of city to explore. I wanted to wear something that would keep me a little warmer but that definitely had major color. The last time I wore this peplum top it was with basic jeans and I am looooving how the mint color pairs with these maroon/eggplant pants from Ann Taylor.

If you haven’t picked up these pants from Ann Taylor, they are an absolute must in the pearshape world. Seriously, I have them in two colors and I am naturally not one to repeat purchase.

Stay tuned tomorrow for how I quickly turned this outfit into a nighttime ensemble with little effort!

Great Spring Find: J.Crew Factory Shell

IMG_6941-2

Welcome to my parents’ backyard! This weekend I spent the majority of it in San Diego with boyfriend for a family wedding. It was a ton of family time, boyfriend/brother bonding (evidence here), and Spring weather. We had an opportunity to do a bit of shopping at our local outlet mall and I picked up this gorgeous coral shell at the J.Crew Factory outlet store. It is the most stunning color and was 50% off the original price of $59 making it a total steal.

I snagged it and love how it fits over the hips. It would be so flattering on a woman of any shape or size but I am particularly pleased with how it fits across the chest.

Tucked, untucked, jeans or shorts, it’s a total winner!

And, behold my newest hairstyle! It’s half french braid half up-do. Comment below letting me know if you would like to see a video hair tutorial (see my last tutorial for wavy hair with minimal heating HERE).

Review: J.Crew Black/White Geometric Sundress

IMG_6871-2

J.Crew dress (released only in stores), Cole Haan pumps , LOFT coat (similar), Revlon Color Burst lipgloss

While in Union Square last week I stumbled non-chalantly into J.Crew. Recently disheartended by the majority of their selection, and the way that it fits pearshapes, I wasn’t expecting to find anything at all that I love. But that darn 25% off lured me in, so browsing I went. I wasn’t finding anything I loved, even on the rack, and then I spotted this black and white beauty. With geometric designs, a narrowed, banded waist and flattering length, I immediately went to try it on.

Lo and behold, a size 10 fit beautifully in the waist, was even roomy in the hips, and sat exactly where I like my dresses to rest on my natural waist. The black and white bands are not placed in awkward parts of the body, but rather work well to continue to enhance an hourglass frame. The straps allow for a bra and the buttoned front allowed me to fold down the sides, creating a v-neck look.

The thick, woven knit material keeps this dress from flowing in the wind too much and was perfect for a recent rehearsal dinner. Finally, the dress is fully lined meaning no visible underwear colors! In all, i’m in love. My perfect black and white Spring/Summer dress. The only bummer? It’s so weird but it is only sold in stores! I couldn’t find it on the J.Crew website and called to confirm. At this point, you can only pop into your local J.Crew to get it.

What do you think of this J.Crew piece? Has anyone else tried it on?

Quick solution for a dress that feels too tight

IMG_6751-2

Theory sweater (similar. buy a few sizes up for a slouchy fit), LOFT dress (similar), vintage Chanel flats, Anthropologie necklace

Recently i’ve been feeling a little self-conscious in certain dresses that I own. Maybe it is that they shrunk in the wash, or I gained weight in that area, but tight fitting dresses that pull over my stomach have been making me feel uncomfortable. I wore this dress a ton last season and love its simplicity yet flattering cut on a pearshape. To make myself more comfortable in it I layered a thin knit and chunky necklace to draw the eye upward away from my stomach and the horizontal stripe of the dress.

I tucked the sweater under a bit to keep it from hitting me at my widest part and cutting straight across my rear end. The thinness of the sweater still allows some visibility of my shape but provides warmth and another layer.

In other news, I feel like my hair looks a bit drab and dry in these photos. Does anyone have any recs for great products to combat this? I’d be forever grateful! xo
