Swimsuits for Pearshapes: Featuring Freya

This post marks a big accomplishment for me both personally and professionally. For starters, I am collaborating with a brand that I have used and loved for many years: Freya lingerie, highlighting their swimwear for curvy girls. However, and perhaps more importantly, I have come to a place where I am comfortable putting pictures like this on the internet. I love my figure and am proud of the curves I have, in a bathing suit or not. So, please, be kind, and help me in celebrating a swimwear line that finally caters to busty, curvy, beautifully hip-endowed women like us!

When Freya asked me to choose one suit from their catalogue I immediately gravitated towards a two piece, if we are being honest. It’s what i’ve always worn if simply for the extra bust support. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and trust that Freya’s curve-enhancing technology would give me the proper support, and look I desired.

While the bust look is definitely not quite as supportive as a bikini top, it did quite a good job! I ordered a 32F just for reference, and love that I could order by specific cup size.

The polka dot pattern camouflaged any imperfections and the material sucked me in at all the right places.

Not So Healthy Eating: Homemade Oreos

Sometimes, I don’t eat healthily. I love to bake, and find that it’s one of life’s greatest social activities. I’ve asked my dearest blog friend Luci to share one of her delicious recipes with you while Cesar and I fly back from China. Enjoy!

Hello PearShape readers, this is Luci from Luci’s Morsels and I’m here to share with you the delicious (and pretty easy) recipe for homemade Oreo cookies that Lauren promised you back in this fun post. Yep, I’m the blogger friend who snaps photos in her kitchen!

Baking is my form of therapy. I find that no matter my mood, baking and cooking brings me an inner peace that few other things can. Whether it’s chopping vegetables for dinner or pecans for my favorite chocolate chip cookies, being in the kitchen always puts me in a better place. So, when Lauren suggested we bake dessert together, I jumped at the opportunity – baking with friends is definitely one of my favorite pastimes.

Homemade Oreos | guest post for The Pear Shape {Luci's Morsels}

Ingredients

1 1/4 Cups flour
1/2 Cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 Cup butter, softened
1/4 Cup vegetable shortening
2 Cups powdered sugar, sifted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preheat over to 375 degrees. In a food processor or electric mixer, thoroughly mix the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar. While mixing, add butter and the egg. Continue combining until the dough comes together in a ball.
Roll dough into one teaspoon balls. Place balls two inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheet. Flatten with fingers into cookies. Bake cookies for 7-9 minutes (depending on desired crunchiness), rotating halfway through. Remove baking sheets from oven and set on baking rack to cool.
To make the cream, combine butter and shortening at a low speed. Gradually beat in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat for two to three minutes until filling is light and fluffy.
To assemble cookies, flip over half of the cookies. Spoon 1/2-1 teaspoon of cream filling onto flipped cookies. Using a cookie of similar size, squish cream between two cookies. Cookies can be enjoyed right then, but they taste much better on day two.

When the weather transitions from Summer to Fall, I slowly start moving towards more basic patterns and colors. I try and get the most wear possible out of my white pieces, keeping an eye on those with thicker fabrics and fun details. I gravitate towards grey bags that can act as nice transition pieces and incorporate darker lipsticks to help move me towards colder weather.

How To: Mix Three Patterns

I like to go bold with mixing patterns and prints, but when I do I still like the look to remain streamlined and intentional, rather than appearing like a mismatched mess. To accomplish this pattern mixing, even with three distinct pieces, there are a few simple steps I follow:

1) Pick a color palette. In this instance, navy blue was the neutral and the base.

2) Two of the three patterns should easily pair. Here it is the gingham and the paisley. They are the closest to each other and therefore should be, and are, the most complimentary.

3) Pick one standout piece. Here it is the leopard bag. A showstopper piece and definitely unexpected.

4) Keep the rest simple. Basic navy pumps, no jewelry, and pulled pack hair keep me looking put together and appropriate.
