J.Crew Midi Skirt Alteration Story

J.Crew Midi Skirt, Altered

Everlane blouse, Gucci vintage belt (similar here), J.Crew skirt (last seen here, pre-alteration), Old shoes (similar), Prada sunglasses

You may remember this J.Crew midi skirt from a recent crop top post. It was my first “midi” skirt and loved the high waist and cheeky shoe print, but always felt slightly uncomfortable with the length. It wasn’t a true midi but also wasn’t short enough on my 5’6′ frame. After much debate I decided to have it professionally shortened by 3 inches and invest in a true midi skirt at a later date. I have pictures of both of the skirts, before and after, above and would love your opinion.

Mixing prints but staying in the same color family with snakeskin shoes, a grey Everlane blouse and black accents.

Here are a few other printed midi skirts that I have been admiring for wear as-is, or shortening:

I think the shorter length will work well with tights too for fall, where’s midi can look frumpy

  • I kinda loved the “midi” length on you! But you’ll get wear out of it either way 🙂

What size everlane blouse do you wear, if you don’t mind? I’ve always looked at them, but been wary since it says it tops out around a sz 10.

  • I like BOTH lengths; it still looks great, shorter. I am a big fan, too, of the way you paired it with different tops. Gives such a fresh look to it!
