Patterned Pants for Pearshapes – My First Pair!

Pants (scored for 30% off in store) + Top (also comes in petite): Ann Taylor, Shoes: JCrew, Pearls: Gifted, Bracelets: JCrew + JCrew + Ralph Lauren Old

These pants encompass two trends that have always terrified me as a pearshaped woman: pattern and cropped fit. I tried them on as a total whim at Ann Taylor and surprisingly, loved them. The fit is fantastic for pearshapes and the pattern helps to camouflage any areas that i’m uncomfortable with. For reference, i’m wearing a size 10.

The pants were originally cut at ankle length but I felt like they truncated my legs too much so I folded them up about an inch and a half to make them almost capris. I think the length is much more flattering on my height and streamlines the leg a bit more. Luckily the material is stiff enough to hold the fold so i’ll save some money on alterations.

I was so pleased with the waist fit. There is absolutely no gaping in the back (always an issue for me), and none in the front. The pants also don’t pull across the widest part of my hips, which is a concern. The pants also have a side zipper closure which reduces bulk in the front, streamlining the silhouette. Overall, I could not be happier with the fit and comfort level.

I paired these pants with another sale find from Ann Taylor, this gorgeous cream polyester blouse. I loved the ties in the front and the fit of a 10 worked with no gaping at the chest.

These pants definitely pulled me out of my comfort zone, but I think i’m a patterned-bottom convert!

Have you ever taken a fashion risk that then became a wardrobe staple?

@ToniStyles Thank you for your kind comment! I used to be very afraid of risks, at least when it came to my bottom half (pants, skirts, etc). But this blog as given me the confidence to move past that. Stay tuned for some more great stuff 🙂 thanks for reading!

  • I think you have done a brilliant job with the cut of the blouse here. The curved hem is a blessing for pears I think and the pants genuinely look great.

Old post I know, but I just had to comment 🙂
