Quick solution for a dress that feels too tight

IMG_6751-2

Theory sweater (similar. buy a few sizes up for a slouchy fit), LOFT dress (similar), vintage Chanel flats, Anthropologie necklace

Recently i’ve been feeling a little self-conscious in certain dresses that I own. Maybe it is that they shrunk in the wash, or I gained weight in that area, but tight fitting dresses that pull over my stomach have been making me feel uncomfortable. I wore this dress a ton last season and love its simplicity yet flattering cut on a pearshape. To make myself more comfortable in it I layered a thin knit and chunky necklace to draw the eye upward away from my stomach and the horizontal stripe of the dress.

I tucked the sweater under a bit to keep it from hitting me at my widest part and cutting straight across my rear end. The thinness of the sweater still allows some visibility of my shape but provides warmth and another layer.

In other news, I feel like my hair looks a bit drab and dry in these photos. Does anyone have any recs for great products to combat this? I’d be forever grateful! xo

I really love the idea! I have never really thought about this solution! 🙂 Thanks for the tip! My tip for dry hair is to use a bit of argan oil on your hair just after washing and as it’s drying but avoid applying it the roots of your hair in case it gives you too much of an oily effect! Good luck! I normally love Moroccan oil, but it depends if you’re ok with silicones or not!

Thank you W.Y! I have Moroccan oil but it doesn’t seem to be working :-/ I think I just have difficult hair

  • I have a dress JUST LIKE THIS. I often wear a skirt over it and make it a top 🙂
But I like the idea of a skirt too.

That is a great idea as well, I hadn’t thought of that for this particular dress. I’m still in the market for flirtier skirts that can go over dresses

  • That necklace is so incredibly cool — just like you 🙂 Another great idea for finding new life with some dresses in the back of the closet.

Hi pearshape! Tip for the hair: I recently started using a bristle brush (mine is by Mason Pearson, but Denman works as well, I heard). Makes my hear shinier and it does not feel that dry any more.
