LOFT jeans, Francesca’s Boutique top, Ann Taylor sweater (old) (similar in black/white), Banana Republic boots (newer version)

In the past I have chronicled my experiences with “exciting” denim. From snakeskin printed, to basic black, to eggplant colored, I have definitely been branching out of my comfort zone. Recently I pinned an image on Pinterest of a fellow blogger in a pair of red skinny pants. I loved the look of the red for both Fall and Spring and contemplated purchasing a pair. After having great luck with Ann Taylor’s “curvy slim” denim line, I decided to look into LOFT’s curvy options. Like their sister store, they have a full range of curvy-fit pants and a fairly large section of colored denim at very reasonable price points. During their most recent sale, I pulled the trigger on these “lava” colored skinny jeans.

1. Likes: The jeans are a medium rise, which I appreciate as it adds more rear-end and tummy coverage. They have a skinny leg tapering but are not too tight making legs look like sausages. The tapering is skinny enough to tuck into boots unlike the Ann Taylor slim. While not shown in these pictures, the back pockets are very evenly placed and make the rear appear lifted (so noted my boyfriend). For a total of $22 on sale and in a number of color options, I can’t ask for much more.

2. Dislikes: The fabric of these jeans is less stretchy than their Ann Taylor counterparts. This causes some wrinkling in the fabric and also less comfort when sitting or wearing all day. The waist is a about an inch wider than the Ann Taylor curvy slim and tends to slip just a bit in the rear.

Overall, for $22 I would buy them again. These can be tucked into boots for Winter/Fall which is when I will majorly wear them. However, ultimately I prefer the Ann Taylor curvy slim jeans as they are less skinny and can be worn comfortably (for me) year around.

Have you branched out with your colored denim?
