black:white colab

My Outfit: Banana Republic tank, J.Crew skirt, Sam Edelman shoes, J.Crew bracelets, Chanel WOC, Gap belt (similar)

This month on the Trend/Pearshape Solution post I am collaborating with the lovely Megan from Step-Brightly! A longtime blog friend of mine, Megan and I decided to both style the popular Spring trend of black and white. We had total free reign to create any look we wanted in this color palette based on our tastes and bodies, and as you can see, they couldn’t be more different. Just further proof that fashion trends can apply to women of all shapes and sizes!

Megan opted for a black and white striped sweater, black skinnies and ankle booties: perfect for her petite frame. The scarf brings some added interest upwards while the fully black bottom is streamlining.

For my look I decided to pair this stunning J.Crew midi skirt with my tried and true LOFT striped trench. I wanted to avoid wearing horizontal stripes on the lower half of my body for this particular trend as I feel like they add bulk. A black and white skirt in a gauzy, fluid fabric allows me to still experiment with blacks and whites without adding width.

This particular skirt has a thinner waistband and less pleating allowing it to just graze my bottom half rather than adding to the bulk. I paired this piece with some basic accessories: my favorite black Gap bow belt for added girliness and metallic sandals to give me some height.

And can we talk about the shoe print on this skirt…dying.
